Task 1: Take down important notes written on
the essay “Water Issues One World Essay”. Make use of a table/matrix to summarize these important points.
Important Notes
I. Watera. Is the cause of not
allowing Earth to get too hot or too cold
b. it is vital to lifec. 70% of the world is
covered by water but 2.5% only is fresh.
d. 60% of water is wasted
II. Water Scarcitya. Is one of the major problem
that we are facing.b. already affecting every
continentc. has been increasing more
than twice than the rate of population build up
d. India and Africa are imminently facing and
suffering water scarcity
III.) Factors that have significant effect on the problem of water scarcity.a. Economical factorsb. social factors
IV.) Diseases that came from contaminated waterc. Cholerad. Trachomae. Typhoidf. Malaria
V.) Solutionsa. Act with awareness and
create awarenessb. Warn people all over the
world to conserve.c. Teaching the people how to
go about it and demonstrating with examples on conserving water
d. Scientist should find new solutions to conserve water or create water
e. These scientists together with engineers should work to build dams
Task 2:Identify the various factors that
could have significantly contributed in the occurrence of these
issues/problems pertaining to water.
The two factors that have significant effect on the problem of water scarcity are Economical
and Social Factors.
While Population is growing the economic
rate is also growing largely.
90% of mass water resources is used in
agriculture
80% of irrigation water is from groundwater.
Increase of crop production and
decrease in poverty has resulted in
overexploitation
Economical Factors
Contamination is due to human agriculture and
industrial waste.
Groundwater depletion is caused by human actions.
They have indiscriminate use
of water.
They don’t have any consideration on the broken pipes, leaky
toilets, faulty plumbing, wasteful showers and
water taps.
Social Factors
Task 3:The country focused in this text is India. Is the
Philippines also facing the same issues/problems. If so, please give specific issues/problems besetting us now
pertaining to water. If not, discuss why is it that Philippines is not the same issues/problems as India
does, what are the good practices that we do which can be shared to India or to the other countries.
Answer:
India is somehow the same as the Philippine because the country Philippines has a problem pertaining to water scarcity. The context shows that India needs to dig underground for them to drink . The water is still unsafe like the Philippines that it has pumps and these water pumps are also giving unsafe water for drinking. Contaminated water is also experienced here in the Philippines. Areas that mostly experienced this are the squatter’s area or public markets or dumping sites. But unlike Philippines India must build dams and better water line pipes so that they won’t be able to experience water loss.
Task 4:How can we solve these issues/problems? What do you think can you do to help in solving these issues/ problems. What can the government do
to help the Filipinos regarding these issues/problems. If you have heard of the SONA of the Pres. Can you point out some items in his
speech which pertains to water issues.
We can solve this issues by not wasting the water. We should be aware and start giving a thought about conserving water.
As students, all we can do is use the water properly and responsibly. Even in a simple way, it will greatly help in conserving water resources. We can also talk to our friends, friends, classmates and people around the society, to share them what’s the pros and cons if we keep wasting it and teach them how important water is.
The government can build dams at a lower lost. They can also make a one on one discussion with the Filipinos by heading a seminar about conserving natural resources, water awareness in people and make them understand and educate.
President Rodrigo Duterte said in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday that we shall strictly enforce fisheries laws. Improve the construction and rehabilitation of roads, irrigations and establishing modern harvest and post-harvest facilities to minimize losses
Task 5:Give your overall reactions/comments
about the article.
The article is a wake up call for everyone. It’s stated an idea that there were some problems about water scarcity that burdens the lives of the
people. This could be a warning for us to be more cautious and be responsible in using the water everyday. The solutions are also stated, so government begin to plan in order to resolves the water issues here in our country one by a time. Water is very important, it is essential to all the humankind, we can’t imagine world without water. It will be a
big problem and can cause great catastrophe. How can we live without water? All of us should do something even in a simply thing, it will be a big help if start to do some actions. If we keep and let these
issues continue, people will also be the one to suffer.
