Fall is here and the weather is changing. Fall is one of the best reasons to live in Indiana. We get a chance to see the leaves change colors and watch/feel the weather changing each day. PLEASE make sure your child is prepared for the weather and outdoor recess. We have already had quite a few stay in from recess for not having warm enough coats.
Basketball and Cheerleading are both practicing hard getting ready for their upcoming season. The 6th grade starts with their tournament at LaVille on Saturday, November 5th. The 5th grade opens their season the following week. Good luck to both teams and the Cheer leaders.
We had a wonderful week of Red Ribbon activities. Thank you to Mr. Stauffer and the Student Council for putting things together for us this year. The student Council recently volunteered at Feed the Children in Elkhart, where they packed boxes and book bags to be shipped to all parts of the country and the world. All had a wonderful time. Thank you to Mrs. Maudlin (Student Council sponsor) for organizing this wonderful activity.
Mrs. Kaser has the Spell Bowl team practicing hard for their competition on Thursday, November 17th at North Liberty Elementary School.
I want to encourage all student and parents to invite a Veteran for our Veteran's Day Program that will happen on Friday, November 11th at 8:30 a.m. All are welcome.

‘Twas One Crazy Night Before Christmas…”
All of our fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students have begun working on our winter music program and we’re hoping you will be there! Mark your calendar now for Thursday, December 8, 2016 for a 7pm presentation of “’Twas One Crazy Night Before Christmas”. Take a light-hearted look at Christmas in the typical American household with clever songs, hilarious antics and an evening of entertainment that will leave you in stitches.
All band, choir, and general music students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are involved in this program and have been given a lyrics sheet so they can be practicing their program songs here, there and everywhere. Don’t be surprised if you start to hear some of these catchy tunes around the house – maybe from the shower! Soon students will be able to access their lyrics and the music through their school Canvas account. It could prove to be a real Karaoke experience!! Singers are singing, dancers are dancing, and slippers are ‘slipping’ (you’ll have to see it to believe it!) so don’t miss out on the fun.
NURSE'S CORNER IMMUNIZATIONS Some of you may have received phone calls concerning students not being up to date on vaccinations. I still have grades 3, 4 & 5 to go through and may call you. Please make plans to get these done ASAP, before the Corporation decides to follow State Guidelines and exclude students who aren't up to date. Make sure the nurse gets a copy of the shots when given. ILLNESS & PREVENTION Colds and even the Flu, in some areas, are spreading quickly. Please use precautions to prevent you and your family from getting sick. Get Plenty of SLEEP, Eat Healthy. Dress Appropriately for the weather, Exercise regularly. Cover your Cough or Sneeze, Disinfect frequently touched items like door knobs, toilet handles, silver ware and many more. And don't forget your flu shot. With the Holiday Season coming up, please stop the spread of illness. Don't forget the school doesn't furnish medication, if your child needs medication at school fill out permission slip and send in the medication. Also, if your child goes home ill, remember they are not to return until fever free for 24hrs without the use of fever reducing meds.
