The mission of USAA’s student internship program is to assist students in obtainingthe practical and inter-personal skills required to manage and operate a corporate
fitness facility and become a qualified fitness professional.
Students accepted into our internship program will develop skills and competenciesthrough hands on experience and practical application of the following:
FITNESS EVALUATION & EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION:Based on ACSM protocol you will learn:-sub maximal VO2 testing -body composition -nutrition guidance-muscular strength & endurance -goal setting -personal training
WELLNESS, HEALTH PROMOTION, EDUCATION & PROGRAMMING:-health seminars -newsletters -educational bulletin boards-incentive programming -conduct recreation events -special projects
GROUP EXERCISE CLASS INSTRUCTION: Learn to instruct a variety of group classes including: -step -kickboxing -body toning -indoor cycling -circuit -specialty classes
FITNESS OPERATIONS: -facility management -inventory -budgeting & purchasing -client interaction -emergency procedures -daily operations
CAREER OPERATIONS: -resume preparation -interviewing skills -professional networking -community involvement -facility tours
