Ihavecompetedattwodifferentinternationalcompetitionsaswellasseveralstatecompetitions.Myprofessionalmartialartsjourneystartedin2016andhasbeencontinuingeversince.Ihadthechancetosparandlearnfromothercompetitorsfromalloverthenationandevenaroundtheworld.Ithelpedmedevelopmy

skillsetbyseeingothercompetitorsdoingtheirmartialarttechniquesindifferentkatas(self-defenseroutine).Ialsowas

abletochallengemyselfbycompetingagainstsomeofthemostdedicatedandtalented

martialartists.AsIcontinuemymartialartsjourney,Ihopeto

gainnewknowledgeofstrategiesinsparringandkatas,andIalsowishtotraveltheworldandtrytolearnothermartialartswhile

showingtoothersmyskillsetthatIhavedeveloped.

IMPACT

Doingmartialartcompetitions isrelatedtoskilldevelopmentbecause itchallengedmetotrainrigorouslyformonths.Ialsohadthechancetotrainwithtalentedmartialartistswhichenhancedmymartialarttechniques.

Myexperiencerelatestobeingresilientbecausethese

competitionsareverydifficultandtimeconsuming,butIdecidedtopushthroughandcompeteaftera3yearbreakduetoanleginjury.

MyexperiencerelatestoadaptabilityandresiliencebecauseIhadtocompeteafterhavingaleginjury,whichdidnotgivemethe

bestcircumstances.Whilesparring,IkeptlosingbecauseIdidnothavethestaminainmylegstokeepup.But,Ikeptcompetingandtriedtochangemytacticstousemyarmsmoreratherthanmylegs.This

enabledmetowinonecompetitionafterlosingtheotherroundsof

sparring.

Thisactivityimpactedmebymakingmemoreinterestedintheartofmartialartsinothercountries.Ithinkithasbroughtmeclosertomykarateteam,andmakesmewanttobemoreofaleaderforthem.Ibenefitedbychallengingmybodyandmindsetintermsofcommittingtocompetingprofessionally again.This

competitionhasenhancedmypassion formartialartsagain,andIamproudofmyselfforbeingabletohaveaskillset

thatchallengesothers.

Iwouldsaytoastudentthatwantstocompeteinmartialartscompetitionthatwhilemartialartsisaroughsportandcanbe

tough.ItisalsooneofthemostmentalandtacticalsportsthatIhaveever

done.
