TYPES OF GROUPS

PRIMARY GROUPS
These are small and long term groups.
They characterise by intimate communication and
high level of cohesiveness
Security within the group
Form building blocks of society
SECONDARY GROUPS
They are larger in size (more people)
Less intimate, they don’t share emotions
More goal focused and aims to achieve something
TEMPORARY GROUPS
They are formed for a particular purpose
They finish or end when that purpose is fulfilled
PERMANANT GROUPS
These groups tend to last a long while
They hold strong bonds and connections
They relate to similar interests
FORMAL GROUPS
Specific goals that are aimed to achieve
They could last for a while or only for a small
amount of time
They have boundaries to follow and protocols
INFORMAL GROUPS
When a need arises it usually forms informal
groups
Do not really on structured organisations, but
forms when required
