Dear Parents and Guardians:
On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at a meeting of the York Region District School Board, it was decided that I would be leaving Woodbridge Public School at the end of this school year and moving as principal to Lorna Jackson Public School. On June 30, 2016, Sherry Shahbod-Morgan will join the Woodbridge P.S. family as principal. Ms. Shahbod-Morgan comes to Woodbridge P.S from Discovery P.S. I know that Ms. Shahbod-Morgan will be warmly welcomed into the W.P.S family.
I have been very blessed these last five years at Woodbridge Public School. I have been privileged to share in your children’s educational journey and their many successes with you. W.P.S. is a small school with a big heart. Thank you parents, guardians and students for you have been so supportive of our school and the initiatives we have brought forward. I will always cherish my memories of this school.
The staff at Woodbridge Public School is a caring and committed group of professionals. They create safe and nurturing environments for our students so as to promote a love of learning. I thank them for their commitment to education and wish them continued success in the coming school year. Most especially, I wish to thank Ms. De Rose, our Vice Principal, for always being supportive and encouraging.
I will miss W.P.S. – the families, the students and the staff. Together we have created a wonderful environment in which students can learn and grow. I leave here knowing that I will hear great things about this school and community in the coming months. Thank you for the wonderful memories and for extending your friendship over these last five years. Thank you for the privilege of leading Woodbridge Public School.
Have a wonderful June.

Early Dismissal in Elementary Schools
All schools in the York Region District School Board are com-
mitted to improving student achievement and well-being. On
Wednesday, June 29, 2016 an early release day will take
place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take
part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These
meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating
activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s
Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activi-
ties that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend
school during the morning of Wednesday, June 29, 2016
only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:55 a.m.
Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are
normally bused to and from school will receive transportation
at this time. Parents/guardians whose children attend after
school child care should make appropriate arrangements to
address this change in schedule.

Water Safety Week
June 4-11, 2016, is Water Safety Week, an annual campaign to educate Canadians on how to stay safe around water and prevent drowning incidents.
Our Canadian Summers can have many hot and sunny days that lead to lots of family fun outdoors and often near water. It is impor-
tant to think about Water Safety around any source of water that we might explore together with our children.

News from the Woodbridge Parenting and Family Literacy Centre
It is hard to believe that it is June already and the school year is nearly over. It has been an exciting end to the school year in the Woodbridge PFLC with the hatching of Painted Lady Butterflies, exploring Environmental Art and our field trips to Chinguacousy Park and Around the Bend Farm.
The Woodbridge Parenting and Family Literacy Centre will be closed for the summer and will re-open on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 for regular programming. We look forward to seeing you then. Have a safe and happy summer!
