NOSTALGIA
As a head of the University it is indeed a matter of pride for me to be
associated with the national annual academic competition which is being
organized with the same vigour and spirit with which it was instituted 16
years back by the law college of the University. I am proud of the law college, its Principal,
teachers and especially the students who have shown remarkable academic commitment year
after year. National Moot Court competition, which is the main component of “Justa Causa” ,
whereas on one hand has been witnessing the exhibition of the talent of the young and
budding lawyers, hailing from different parts of the country is on the other hand providing
alternative method of learning for the new students of the college. The utility of this event
from the perspective of academic enrichment of the students of our college and also students
from other colleges is beyond speculation. I wish the organizing team of the college yet
another grand success.
-- DR. SIDHHARTHAVINAYAKA P. KANE
VICE- CHANCELLOR, RTMNU
“Justa Causa”, which means for the just cause, is the brain child of my
predecessor, conceived and executed 16 years back. This annual event of
the college, comprising several competitions, is the much awaited academic
programme both for the students of the college and also students of law colleges from various
parts of India, sheer because of its quality and utility. We are proudly entering in to the 16th
year of this activity. From the academic session 2017-18 we have changed the format and

now the event is spread throughout the academic session, expanding its horizon. However,
the major component of Just Causa, the national level moot court competition, organized by
the Moot Court Association of the college continues to be the star attraction and I am happy
to be associated with this event once more as a chairman of the association. Although this is
the sixteenth episode of the programme the vigour, enthusiasm and excitement of the students
is unbound and I am sure it is only because of the zeal of the students the academic
extravaganza called “Justa Causa” is celebrated for the last several years with lot of fanfare.
The national moot court competition starting from 19th January till 21st January 2018
promises to be one more unforgettable event of the college. I wish my team of students
headed by Mr. Sahil Jain and guided by the coordinator Adv. Mrs. Kalyani Kapse good luck
for the event.
DR. SHRIKANT R. KOMAWAR
PRINCIPAL
It gives me immense pleasure to pen few words as a coordinator of the Moot
Court Association of RTMNU’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law,
Nagpur. MCA is conducting various activities for sharpening the advocacy
and communication skills of the students for their overall personality development. As we
enter the 16th episode of JUSTA CAUSA, we are receiving overwhelming response from all
the corners of India. Moot Court competition is widely recognized as one of the most
efficient way to learn law and legal practice and develop the hidden potential of the students.
I am grateful for the patronage extended by the Honorable Judges of the Bombay High Court,
Nagpur Bench and also the Practicing Lawyers for their alma mater, year after year, which
makes this mega law event a grand success. I am also grateful to the Principals of the college

for giving me the opportunity to organize the mega national Law event. My sincere thanks to
other faculty members of the college for their whole heartedly support. This year’s Justa
Causa comprises National Essay Competition, National Drafting Competition and National
Moot Court Competition.
ADV. MRS. KALYANI S. KAPSE
CO-ORDINATOR, MOOT COURT ASSOCIATION.
With the grace of GOD and blessings of my parents I was unanimously
chosen as the President of Moot Court Association of the college for the
2017-18. It is no less an honor as my college which is now 90 years old has
produced many legal stalwarts, statesmen and bureaucrats who have left behind an
undeletable mark on the national life. I realized the onus of Presidency of the MCA only after
being chosen. The toughest task for the MCA president of our college is the organization of
“Justa Causa”, which my predecessors have done so deftly. However, having learnt under the
past Presidents I am confident of my team’s ability to organize the 16th “Just Causa” in a way
which will fulfill the hopes and expectations of one and all and scale new heights of success.
I assure that the intellectual feast of the three days will prove to be unforgettable for all the
participants of the competitions, included in the mega academic activity “Just Causa”.

Court means “Hypothetical case or hearing/ trial”. The aim of Moot Court activity is
to groom the budding lawyers. It trains the students of law to create links between
theory and practice. Moot court competition provides a platform to the law students to
show case their mooting talent. It also is a way for the students to learn from their peer
group. Taking into consideration this significance of moot court competition, we
include this competition in the Law Festival. The judges for the preliminary and semi-
final rounds of the competitions are eminent practicing lawyers.
➢ NATIONAL LEGAL DRAFTING COMPETITION
The legal drafting competition provides an opportunity to the students to
develop their drafting skill which is hallmark of a successful lawyer. In this
competition, a legal problem will be given to the participants along with the research

written submissions will then be judged by a panel of judges.
