Our Images Of India: 2010-2011 Vol.1John Antoine Labadie & Margie Beth Labadie
From early December 2010 through early January 2011 Margie & I were fortunate to enjoy our second trip to India. We arrived in Delhi. While in Delhi we exhibited our artwork at the India International Arts Festival and also made a presentation for an event hosted by the Academy of Electronic Arts. From Delhi we traveled to Rajasthan by car and then stayed in Jaipur where we were hosted by the India Contemporary Art Gallery. In Jaipur we also offered a workshop at a women’s college associated with the University of Rajasthan. From Jaipur we went to Kanpur, also by car, and stayed at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). In Kanpur we also offered workshops at colleges associated with the University of Kanpur and exhibited our work there. We moved from Kanpur to Lucknow and were hosted by the Department of Photography at the University of Kanpur. We offered a workshop the University of Kanpur and exhibited our work there with faculty from that institution and several well known Indian artists from the region. We returned from Lucknow to Kanpur by train, stayed again at IITK, and offered workshops and presented exhibitions at two more regional colleges. From Kanpur we returned to Delhi by train. Once in Delhi we visited a number of arts organizations and brought in the New Year there. This second trip to India was very productive, extremely educational and expanded our network of contacts within the country. We will return to India sooner than later to continue the adventure.
