VERGED ON THIS NEIGHBOURHOOD.

MUSIC FESTIVALS, BE- IN’S DEMONSTRA-

TIONS, CONCERTS AND DRUG-THEMED EVENTS WERE HAPPENING EVERY DAY WITH WITNESS TO A GROWING SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REVOLUTION.

PSYCHEDELIC ROCK WAS INCREDIBLY POPULAR DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE 1960S. THE INTENTION WAS TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE

OF THE LISTENERS WHO WERE U S I N G LSD OR OTHER DRUGS. LYRICS WERE STRANGE AND THE

LYRICS WERE STRANGER.

PROTEST ROCK WAS ALSO AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE MUSIC SCENE. CURRENT EVENTS BECAME A MAJOR INFLUENCE AND MANY SONGS WERE WRIT- TEN IN PROTEST TO THE VIETNAM WAR, THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND OTHER EVENTS.
