Democratic Discrepancy

The Democratic party under theleadership of William Goebel in Ken-

tucky is in a worse and more criticalcondition il possihle than the Demo-

cratic party in the Uuited States un-

der the leadership of William BryanIn Kentucky Goebel has destroyedparty harmony he has forced theformer leaders of the party to privatelife be hoe stolen from the membersof the party their rights in conven-

tions and primaries ho has causedKentucky to he placed in the hands of

Republican party to remain an inefinite period in a word be has de-

stroyed the party in Kentucky byrascality and thievery He in un-principled anda dangerous manWith his insatiable desire for positions-of public trust and honor he losessight of partys interest and friendswelfare He never enjoyed the friend

of a man whom ho would not forwhen bso doing his own ends

could hA accomplished lIe ouce enjoyed the esteem and friendship of thatpage of Kentucky Democracy lionJohn G Carlisle and when he deemed-it popular to desert this friend he did-

o When it was necessary for him toobtain the enmity of Judge John T-

1I01Igf that his pleas might be fatwarded be did this too and declaredthat he has a doubledealer and anunmitigated liar He forsook CaptStone the man from Kuttawa when

was necessary to steal the nomina-tion for Governor lie has gonefurther than to betray his party sasselates When politics in Renton county were under the leadership of another man and it became necessary afor this man to be slain that his amb-

ition might be gratified he provokedand slew him

It is marvelous to note the historyof this man of evil ambition ThisJudas Iscariot is as abominable toKentucky Democracy as the JudasIscariot of old is to the religious worldHe has bound the decrepit Blackburnin chains of adamant For what punpease That tits own ends might beaccomplished Kentucky Democracyfur the past year Loa been under con

faith has been Instilled into the hearts

of many Partisans Under the leader-

decrepit Blackburn the Democratic

party made it impossible for frauds to

be committed in elections especially-

by Iepublicaoe The law bearing

guageWeindorse the amendment of the

State election law passed by the lastDemocratic General Assembly of Ken

RepublieltnGovernlrment to be in the interest of honestand fair elections its faithful enforce¬

ment will render impossible the com ¬

mission of such frauds as were perpe¬

trated in this State in 1896wherebythe will of the people was overthrownand the State lost to William JBryan1

If this law was not faithfully en-

forced Mr Goebel and company areresponsible for it The election wasundoubtedly held under Goebels de-crees and no man is responsible saveGoebeland his tools This is thepartys endorsernentbut the languageof the man Onebel had nothing elsebeen said should condemn every manthat said slight about fraud But thehalf has not yet been told the furtherwe go the more ridiculous the con-

screamed The Republicansmay do the voting but we Democratswill do the counting This statementshould have buried its author in everl-asting oblivion but there is still more

If there is to be stealing of votes inKentucky hereafter we propose to dothe stealing shouted the decrepitBlackburn at Mayfield to which theapostate Goebel said amen at Harroceburg in his speech In the faceof these and numerous other state-

ments¬

these two disappointed politi-

cians have set up a perpetual howl ofRepublican intimidation fraud forceand corruption When a Democratelates that the Republicans stole thiselection he gives himself the lie andnine tenths of his colleagues Havingheld the recent election and countedhimself out this same murderer ass-

assin and thief has concluded to carryhis case into then legislature and therebulldoze enough men to give himselfthe Governors chair If say man or

let of men should be averse to a con-

test

¬

most assuredly it ought to beGoebel and the entire Democraticparty The legislature will never seatsuch a man The manhood of whichKentucky has so haughtily boastedwill never permit it Goebel desires-

to keep himself at the head of his

party as long as pocsiblefor when thiscontest shall have been settled he willhave become a thing of the past

Blackburn and the Senate

If Kentuckys honor and reputationhave ever been maligned by men ofpublic favor that time is now and JC S Blackburn is the maligner anddefamer of her glory Less than twoyears ago this same man who hasgrown fat at the public crib causedto be martialed around the capitolbuilding the State militia tothe peace and restore order Thissame Blackburn bad a friend Sandford by name killed by another man iGoebel by name and at the tomb ofthis very dear friend this same Black-

burn invoked the God of men to sparehim and be would make it his lilesmission to avenge the death of hisbrother friend by burying his slayer-in the depths of merited public exe-cration The prayers of the wickedavaileth nothing consequently thisprayer was a vain one

Instead of complying with this iuvocation he decided he could betterbury the slayer of his friend in thatmerited execration by making him bisbosom friend It was this same Black-

burn that persuaded the widow olStmdford to withdraw the damagesuit of 825000 that he himself hadinstigated against William Goebel forthe murder of her husband It wasthis apostate Blackburn that support-ed force fraud and thievery in therecent campaign This same faithlessrenegade politician proclaimed all overKentucky that he did not want thecomm Fsiun as Senator unless it wassigned by Win Goebel Governor ofKentucky Wm Goebel is not Governor of Kentucky and never will be-

nd the legislature should deliver MrBlackburns goods to him after hisown choosing and be will never againdisgrace the fair name Kentucky byrepresenting her people in the UnitedStates Senate tjoebel has been fairly defeated by the will of the peopleanti yet this man of dignity was thefirst to suggest a steal of the high officeof Governor This man of losl houorhas been nominated by the Goebelcritio caucus to succeed William Lindsay in the United Stales Senate Itis quite probable that this nomination

will mean his return to a seat in thatgreat body of men yet there is somedoubt If this career be Democracythe sooner it is destroyed trio better oftwill society be Blackburn is a men ¬ace to popular government and Kentuckians demand his retirement

The Blind Tiger

The blind tiger u raging in mostevery town in the county In variouscommunities the tiger is bold enoughto declare himself a privilegedcharacter For a number of years thepeople have suffered from the effectsof the illicit sale of liquor Time aftertime indictments have been foundagainst these offenders of the law andin nine cases out of ten the Common-

wealths¬

Attorney would move tothrow the indictment out of court andas a rule the Circuit Judge wouldcomply with the request of the Attor ¬

ney and the indictments were thrownout of court From such conduct ofour courts the blind tigers have beenencouraged not only in a certain lo-

cality¬

but everywhere in the countyIt has been very sad to the Christianpeople in some sections of the countyThey have had their revival meetingsbroken up by the frequent visitors ofthe tiger The peace has been fre ¬

quently broken on numerous occasionsby the tigers patron

While Hartford had saloons thetiger had no place here but ere the

saloons had been cloeed a fortnightthis animal had come to HartfordFrom the nature of his decorum heseems to have come to stay His efforts to take the town have met withwonderful success so much so that thepeople have become alarmed Theyhave organized a club to urge waragainst the tiger in all the futurecourts When the CommonwealthAttorney moves to throw out an in ¬

dictment the anti tiger clubwillhave a man to object and if the Judgewill not give them a fair trial theypropose to swear him off the benchand elect a man that will act according to law Those towns infested withthis creature of perdition should havea similar organization to that whichis in Hartford They should join fortunes and destroy every tiger estab-

lishment in the county The whiskymen are organized against the Christian people everywhere and it is emi ¬

nently important that those opposingthe illicit sale of liquor should linktheir interests together and make anunited effort to exterminate the offend ¬

ers of the law The members com-

posing the antitiger club are the verybest citizens of Hartford They arevery desirous that the law may be en ¬

forced To this end they are earnestlylaboring With an effort upon thepart of the new town officials the goodpeople will succeed in banishing fromour midst the most cursed of all creatures the blind tiger
