THE EBB & FLOW
THE EBB & FLOW
All those dying souls,Ragged clothes and warn out shoes,
There’s no plan for us.
When your eyes are tired,And you can’t pick up your feet,
Shake all the dust out

Like stones in your eyes,And cold, black dirt in your mouth.
Don’t end with questions.

Warn out winter stepsTaken with Autumnal bones
Tired beyond our age.

THE EBB & FLOW
THE EBB & FLOW
The wind is bitterAnd it wants to change my face,
I just stare blankly
10
And all of our pain,Tumbled into the mourners,
Who swallowed theirs down
In her husband’s death,Everything fell from her mind,
And alone, she’s left.

Often think on it,And write many flourished words,
But seasons still pass.

THE EBB & FLOW
‘Brother, are you thereAs I walk darkest hallways?’
‘Sister, I’m your torch.
Today, waking dream,Salty, beady droplets riseIn clouds made of steam.

Pack your belongings,In the brown leather suitcase,
And depart alone.

Sobering moments,When we see all the car-wrecks,
With their hollow eyes.

THE EBB & FLOW
VOL.1
A collection of Haikus
Ben BowsherJohnny Packham
This book began as a new years resolution. I was drunk (standard) and obviously there are various requirements for a successfull new years, including making resolutions you never stick to. I have thought hard about something I could actually commit myself to and thus decided upon writing a haiku a day for an entire year. Here is a collection of the best of those. I contacted extremely talented illustrator Jonny Packham to make some artwrok for the Haikus. I really dug his unique approach, and the rest, as they say, is history.
