Annual White Mass Bishop Ed Scharfenberger will celebrate the Annual White Mass for health care workers and their families on October 22 at 5pm @ Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. A simple reception will follow. RSVP [email protected] (Ginny Daley).
Pro-life Reflection: Why do the bishops say that when public servants disregard the right to life, their stand for other human rights is “suspect”? The reason is that the right to be safe, free, educated, and economically se-cure, cannot be human rights if life itself isn’t a human
right. To make one’s humanity negotiable means that other rights that flow from one’s humanity are negotiable, too. Prayer: Lord, make the humanity and rights of all Your people secure. - Fr. Frank Pavone

for you; plans to prosper
you, not to harm you.

Don’t miss the Feast of Christ the KingFeast of Christ the KingFeast of Christ the KingFeast of Christ the King Procession, Bene-diction, and adoration on Sunday, October 29th after the Latin Mass (about 1:15pm). There will be a plenary indulgence offered.
CHRIST THE KINGCHRIST THE KINGCHRIST THE KINGCHRIST THE KING
In celebration of the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, a
Eucharistic Procession will immediately follow the 12pm Mass on Sunday, October 29,
culminating with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament
We invite all the faithful to process with the Blessed Sacrament around our church
returning inside for personal Eucharistic adoration. The Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
will be recited during the procession, and the Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus will be recited during adoration. A plenary indulgence* is given to those
who publically recite this Act of Consecration on the Solemnity of Christ the King.
“The Kingship and Kingdom of Christ have been recognized in pious custom, practiced
by many families, dedicating themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Not only families have
performed this act of dedication, but nations and kingdoms too. In fact, the whole of the human
race was consecrated by Pope Leo XIII, in the Holy Year 1900, to the Divine Heart of Jesus.
“We institute the Feast of the Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ to be observed yearly
throughout the whole world on the last Sunday of the month of October,” in the Latin Form. The
Ordinary Form of the Roman rite will celebrate the Solemn Feast of Christ the King on Sunday
November 26th. “We further direct that the dedication of mankind to the Sacred Heart of
Jesus be made annually on that day.”– Quas Primas [In the first] Encyclical of Pope Pius
XI, December 11, 1925
“Nations will be reminded by the annual celebration of this feast that not only private individuals but also rulers and princes are bound to give public honor and obedience to Christ…”
Pope Pius XI, Quas Primas, 11 December 1925
*An indulgence is the remission of all or part of the temporal punishment (for a living person in a state of
grace, or a person who is deceased) according to God's justice, for sin that has been forgiven.
THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 as an antidote to
secularism…a way of life which leaves God out of man's thinking and encourages man to organize his
life as if God did not exist. The feast is intended to proclaim in a striking and effective manner Christ's
royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and all nations.
A Prayer to Christ the King
O Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You to be the King of the universe; all that has been
made is created for You. Exercise over me all Your sovereign rights. I hereby renew the
promises of my Baptism, renouncing Satan and all his works, and I engage myself to
lead henceforth a truly Christian life. In a special manner, I undertake to bring about the
triumph of the rights of God and Your Church, so far as I am able.
Divine Sacred Heart of Jesus, I offer You my poor actions to obtain the
acknowledgment by everyone’s heart of Your sacred, kingly power. In such wisdom
may the kingdom of Your peace be firmly established throughout all the earth. Amen.
