throughout the academic year on the following

RÉSUMÉ WRITING• The resume workshop provides detailed
explanations as well as step-by-step
processes for creating an effective
resume
• Workshops are facilitated one-on-one
and/or group format in 30-minute
increments, or by employers.
DRESSING FOR SUCCESS• The Dress for Success workshop
addresses the importance of proper dress as it relates to interviewing and business situations.
• The Career Center host suit drive launches each semester to provide professional clothing for students.
MOCK INTERVIEWS• Mock interviews are one-on-one,
30-minute practice interviews designed to prepare you for the real thing.
• Students and alumni who participate in mock interviews are 88% more successful when
interviewing with actual employers
• Career Ambassadors are
available to help you prepare for your employment and graduate/professional school

Career Ambassador Program
Career Ambassadors assist students with the following:Advise students during walk-in hours on Career services and resources, résumé construction and editing, and other career-related inquiries.
•Give feedback on new and current Career services programs and initiatives.•Conduct outreach presentations on topics like résumé writing, interviewing skills, internship searching, and social networking.
•Staff Career services major events and actively market Career services workshops.•Contribute to social media and marketing activities, such as blogging, tweeting,
helping to maintain Career services social media pages, and creating YouTube videos.•Obtain and demonstrate extensive understanding of career development issues.
•Complete a final project on a career or student development related topic.
CAREER ASSESSMENTSCareer Assessments thru My Majors
It is important to begin Career exploration as early as possible, and the Career & Professional Development Center is here to help. Take the 15 minute MyMajors assessment to assist you in the Career Decision Making Process and start on your journey to success. Keep in mind that there is no magic pill or single test that will majestically tell you what to do for the rest of your life,but the MyMajors assessment will give you valuable insight based on your responses to majors that may be a good fit for you. This is a free assessment that doesn’t cost anything except a little bit of your time, but it can help you tremendously on your career path. Let’s Get Started!

Employer On-Campus Interviews • On-Campus Interviews is a convenient
service that provides employers the
opportunity to interview outstanding TSU
students and alumni for degree-level or
internship positions.
• Employers can post position(s) online and specify
requirements such as degree and major, screen applicants, and select the candidates you wish to interview. If you meet potential candidates at a
career fair or information session, you are welcome to add them to your final list of interview candidates. You select the candidates you wish to interview and
we handle the logistics.

CAREER FAIRS• Each fall semester, the Career &
Professional Development Center hosts the annual TSU Tiger Career Fair and targeted career fairs.
• Last year’s Tiger fair was attended by over 80 employers and more than 500 students and alumni.
• TSU’s CPDC is also one of the sponsors of the annual Texas Job Fair and a founding member of the Houston Area Consortium of Career Centers (HACCC). On average more than 130 employers attend the Texas Job Fair which takes place each spring semester (HACCC.org).
