Taste of Blount is ComingThe 11th annual Taste of Blount is right around
the corner. This delight to the taste buds is set for Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Theater in the Park in Maryville. Heritage Festival NearsFor the last 20 years, the Townsend in
the Smokies Heritage Festival and Old Timer’s Day has brought visitors and East Tennessee natives together to celebrate fall and the Appalachian heritage that is still alive today in the Great Smoky
Mountains. Scheduled for September 28-29, at the Townsend Visi-tors Center, it provides an atmosphere where family and friends can partake in time-honored Appalachian music, crafts, food and other activities unique to this mountain region.
Additionally, this year’s heritage festival will feature free Wi-Fi access on the festival grounds, as well as a free shuttle service to transport festival visitors to and from various places throughout Townsend. The shuttle’s stops include the Townsend Visitors Center, Trillium Cove, the Little River Railroad and the Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center.

network with more than 300 elected offi-cials, business and community leaders at the Business Excellence Awards at the Clayton
Center for the Arts on Sept. 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
You don’t have to be a Chamber member to enjoy this event where you are given the oppor-tunity to get to meet and visit with the commu-nity decision makers and those that work hard in the business world to make Blount County an outstanding place to work and live.
Radio host Hallerin Hilton Hill hosts the evening’s program which includes networking and the presenting of 13 Business Excellence Awards to those businesses and individuals who have excelled in the area in the year. In ad-dition, the winners of Taste of Blount will be given their awards.
