collaboratively within our six schools to develop

eating and social-emotional health. Overall, ourwellness

committeeispleasedwithourprogress.

Resilience

In May of 2018, Warwick held the second Resilience event. This night focuses on topics related to wellness, resilience and mental health with two goals: share information and share resources for our students and families. The focus for the event was on Suicide Awareness and Prevention.

FoodServicesThe Director of Food Services, Mrs. Karen Miller, and herdedicatedstaffhavedoneatremendousjobofprovidingourstudents with access to reasonably priced foods andbeverages that meet the federally established nutritionalguidelines. The food services department has developed asystem that promotes Warwick School District’s BoardPolicyNumber 246 and theHealthy, Hunger-FreeKidsActof2010.Theyhavebeensuccessful in theirefforts tomeet theeverincreasing regulations for healthier meals while alsokeeping the options appetizing for our students (all itemssold in our cafeterias meet the National School LunchProgramnutritionalguidelinestandards). Thechartbelowprovidestotalmealssoldateachschoolforthe2017/2018schoolyear.

Mrs.Miller also stays current onhealth andwellness topicsby representing WSD on the LiveWELL Lancaster CountyCoalition as well as Lighten Up Lancaster. These arecountywidemeetings designed to get stakeholders togetherincluding community members, businesses, health andhuman service organizations to improve Lancaster County.TheyshareideastomakeLancasterCountyahealthierplacetolive,workandplay!

MentalHealthThroughout the last few years, a group of committedcounselors, principals and district office staff haveresearchedbestmethodstoprovidementalhealthscreeningatthesecondarylevel.Continuingin2018/2019,allstudentsingrades7and10willbescreenedformentalhealthduringourroutinemedicalscreenings.
