What is Stir it up!?
A community based,
peer education project
which provides training
and support to
community members to
run healthy eating
activities in their local
communities
What is Stir it up!?
Healthy eating
activities may include
cooking
demonstrations, talks,
supermarket tours,
involvement in
community gardens
and facilitating cooking
groups.
Stir it up! messages
Eat more freshly prepared,
whole foods
Eat more fruit and vegetables

Project Goal
To improve the food security
status of low-income
communities in the Illawarra
area, using a peer-education
model
Context
Food insecurity can mean:
Experiencing hunger as a result of running
out of food and being unable to afford more
Not having enough food
Eating a poor quality diet as a result of
limited options
Anxiety about acquiring food
Having to rely on food relief
