Encased in a gift jar and propped on a sug-
ary slope, this frosty fellow makes a cute
little display. (Just don't shake!) Use pur-
chased icing to secure flat sides of two
snowman sugar cookies; decorate with can-
dies. Place snowman on a mound of icing
inside the jar. Add sugar; top with lid.
It was Christmas Eve but the children in the kewpie family Kate,
Annie and Tommy where sad. Money was tight this Christmas and
the children knew they wouldn’t get any presents this year. Some-
how they felt guilty only thinking of themselves. Mother and Fa-
ther had been working really hard this year and there still wasn’t
enough money to pay the bills or even buy dog food for Spot.
Somehow they managed to save some table scraps for him.
Mother and Father where hardly ever home and the children where
bored that Christmas eve. “let’s play tag,” Annie suggested. No,
Tommy replied we aren't allowed to run in the house. Well I’m
bored isn't there anything we can do? Hey lets play that board game
we got last Christmas, Kate said. Yes Lets! Tommy and Annie re-
plied. So the children where kept busy for a couple of hours until
Mother came home.
Then Father came home with a Christmas tree as a surprise for the
children. As he came through the door the children shouted with
shrieks of delight. The Christmas tree lot was closing down till next
year and they had one more Christmas tree so they gave it to me for
free, Father said happily. The children excitedly got out some paper,
scissors, and some crayons to make decorations for the Christmas
tree.
Later as the children where getting into bed they decided they
would hang their stockings on the fireplace just in case Santa might
pass by there house. “lets leave some cookies and milk out for
him,” Annie said. “Annie you know we don't have any cookies and
we only have a drop of milk in the fridge.” Tommy replied
“Well we could at least leave out a little of the cinnamon role Mother brought
home from the Christmas party at her work.” Kate suggested. Everyone
agreed that that was a good idea and so they snuck into the kitchen and got a
little piece of the cinnamon role and put it on a plate and stuck the plate on
top of the fireplace mantel. They went back to there rooms and said prayers
that tomorrow would be a good Christmas then they got into bed and went to
sleep.
Tommy was the first to get up. He raced downstairs to the living room.
“Kate Annie hurry get up! There are presents under the tree and our stocking
are full hurry hurry get up!” Kate and Annie ran as fast as their chubby little
legs could carry them. Mother and father came downstairs to see what all the
noise was and where very surprised with what they saw. Annie Tommy and
Kate where sitting on the floor in the living room opening there stockings.
Mother father look look! “Where did all these presents come from?” Mother
asked. “Santa Kewpie!” Annie yelled. Everyone opened their presents and
there was even a bone for spot. This had been the very best Christmas the
kewpie family had ever experienced.

Dear Readers,
Merry Christmas! I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas
season. Christmas is my favorite time of year because it reminds
me of Jesus’ birth and that reminds me to be nice to everyone
even though this season can be very stressful and chaotic.
Traditions are very special to the Kewpie family. Everyone
comes to my house for Christmas dinner and they stay the whole
month of December and everyone has a very fun time. Some of
the kewpie traditions include riding in the sleigh with our horse
Bonnie pulling us and going out to the woods and picking out a
Christmas tree with the whole family. All of these traditions are
very special to the Kewpie family. I hope every one of our read-
ers has a safe and happy Christmas and I hope you can have some
special traditions with your family!
Sincerely
- Mel Kewpie

WINNER OF KEWPIE CONTEST!
It was the Christmas season in Kewpieville and the Kewpie twins Boo
Boo and Itty Bitty along with Gram Gram Kewpie were busy decorating
Kewpie Cottage, Christmas shopping, and baking gingerbread cookies.
"What do you want for Christmas Itty Bitty?" Gram asked while munch-
ing on a gingerbread man complete with gumdrop buttons. "All I want is
snow!" Itty Bitty replied with hope in her large Kewpie eyes. Both Boo
Boo and Itty Bitty knew that wishing for snow was like wishing they
could fly. For there hadn't been snow in Kewpieville for over 5 years and
it didn't look as though that was going to change anytime soon. For it was
the week before Christmas and the sun was shining and it was warm
enough for the Kewpies to go outside in their usual attire (nothing). "What
do you want for Christmas Boo Boo?" Bitty asked her brother while strok-
ing her gray fluffy kitten Puss. Boo shut his Kewpie eyes trying hard to
think of what he had put on his Christmas list to Kewpie Claus who lived
North of Kewpie country. "I want a Rootin' Tootin' Red Sled from Kew-
pies R Us!" exclaimed Boo Boo with joy. Itty Bitty smiled at her brother
imagining how wonderful it would be if they both got their wish. The
week zoomed by and Gram and the Kewpie twins continued to prepare for
the fast approaching holiday, but in all their busyness, they kept their
wishes in mind and kept hoping. Monday was Christmas Eve. Bitty woke
up and hopped out of bed to look out the window. Her kewpie eyes sad-
dened when she saw the bright sunny morning and not a snowflake in
sight. Bitty ate her oatmeal in silence trying hard to keep her hopes up.
"What's wrong Bitty?" Boo wondered. "oh...well...I was hoping we would
have snow by now." Bitty sadly told her brother. "I know!" Boo replied,
"But we have to keep our hopes up anyway Bitty." "That's right Boo."
Gram said smiling. After breakfast Gram took Boo and Bitty shopping to
pick up last minute gifts before going caroling with their neighbors Lulu
and Pee Wee. Boo and Bitty sang thier hearts out and were applauded by
the other Kewpies in Kewpieville, but they were saddened when they saw
no shimmering snowflakes flutter through the evening air. The Kewpies
returned to Kewpie Cottage that night and were greeted at the door by
Gram Gram Kewpie. They sat by the fire listening to Gram read Christ-
mas stories, while drinking Gram's special, creamy hot cocoa in Christmas
mugs, and eating her traditional peppermint candy. Before long, Bitty fell
asleep with Puss purring softly on her lap.

Presents under
the tree
(kewpies are
very on time) By MO KEWPIE
Gram and Boo put Bitty and Puss to bed and went back to the
kitchen to prepare a plate of gingerbread cookies and milk for Kew-
pie Claus. "Do you think it will snow this Christmas Gram?" Boo
asked. A smile crept onto Gram's face and she whispered "Yes I do
my little Boo." Boo smiled, feeling very hopeful. "Me to Gram
Gram." He replied. Once Boo and Gram set out the cookies Gram
tucked Boo in bed and then went to bed herself. During the night,
Bitty dreamed of waking up Christmas with mountains of fluffy
marshmallow-like snow. Boo dreamed of riding down snowy slopes
on a new, shiny, Rootin' Tootin' Red Sled. Bitty woke up to Puss's
gentle tongue against her cheek. "It's Christmas Puss!" She ex-
claimed jumping out of bed. "Merry Christmas Bitty!" Gram said
cheerily coming in with Boo."Merry Christmas Gram and Boo!"
Bitty replied. "I have a surprise for both of you!" Gram said she
grabbed their hands and walked out of the room and to the front
door with Puss softly trailing behind. "Shut your eyes, my sweets!"
Gram said. Boo and Bitty shut their Kewpie eyes and Gram let go
of their hands. "Okay, on the count of three you can open your
eyes! One...two...three!"Boo and Bitty opened their eyes to see the
curtains and the door open. Outside, the trees, the ground, the cob-
blestone walkway leading to Kewpie cottage, and the lamp posts
were covered with a thick, frosty snow, sparkling in the sun that
occasionally peaked through the clouds. "Oh Gram! My wish came
true!" Bitty exclaimed, running outside to make a Kewpie angel in
the freshly fallen snow. "It sure did!" Gram replied running outside
to see the snow herself. Gram, Boo and Bitty played in the snow a
while before returning to Kewpie Cottage for breakfast, even Puss
wandered outside curiously romping through the snow that came up
to her chin and stuck to her pink nose. Bitty and Boo ate their
chocolate chip waffles while they told the dreams they had to
Gram.
"Well." Gram said with a sparkle in her eyes, "There's one more
wish that hasn't come true yet Boo. I think there is something by the
fireplace for you." Boo raced to the fireplace and laid his eyes on a
shiny, new, Rootin' Tootin' Red Sled with a green ribbon. Boo
gasped and reached for the treasure with joy. "Oh Gram! Now my
wish has come true too!" Boo exclaimed showing her his prize.
Gram and the Twins finished breakfast then set out to cut down a
Christmas tree to decorate. Gram and Bitty pulled Boo on his new
sled through the snowy streets singing Christmas Carols with rosy
Kewpie cheeks. As Boo hummed along to "We Wish You a Merry
Kewpie Christmas" he noticed a tag attached to his sled he hadn't
seen before. "That's funny." He thought. "Kewpie Claus doesn't
usually leave a tag with his name." He opened the tag to see written
in familiar writing "Never stop hoping my little Boo. Love, Gram
Gram." A smile spread across his Kewpie lips. "This is the Best
Christmas Ever!" He exclaimed. Bitty agreed, and Gram gave him a
kiss on his rosy Kewpie nose. "Indeed it is." She whispered.
