Serendipity Community Men’s Shed
Plans for a 6x6 metre shed has been approved by Committee. This will
be the Metal division of the Men’s Shed and will be for welding and all
types of metal work. It is aiming to be built within 8 weeks.
We are looking for any people with experience
in welding or other metal working skills to be
supervisors. Any donations and equipment are
much appreciated. For more information or to
make a donation call Brian 0407 892 195.
Treasurers Report
The unaudited accounts to 31 December 2010 show that the profit for
the year is both above budget and well in excess of last year’s results.
Final figures will be available shortly and will appear in the Annual
Report. All areas continued to perform well with turnover and gross
profit above budget for the 2010 year. January has also started off well
as we look forward to another strong financial performance in 2011.

Scooter Hire Going for a walk with grandchildren, or carrying out a few odd jobs
yourself, can be satisfying experience to an individual who beforehand
had no way to get around without assistance. At the present time, the
Phillip Island RSL has 3 electric scooters available to be loaned for 6-12
month periods for Service or Affiliate members. All that is required is a
Doctors Certificate for sight and hand movement. For more
information see Reception or Brian Goldberg.
Important Notice
Serendipity is Bi-monthly and the next issue will be out April 1st.
Submissions close Tuesday March 25th. Please hand in submissions to
the office and any material is much appreciated

I would like to be able to say "Happy New Year" to all members, but I am concerned that with the floods
throughout our 'Sun Burnt Country' there may be some of you who are worried about family and/or friends
and it may appear to be a bit light hearted. I do believe though that the vaste majority of people, and I will
include you, our members, are feeling very much for all those stricken by this natural disaster. As your
Chaplain, I can assure you of my prayers for all concerned.
I would like to convey my thanks to all who helped with the children's Christmas Carnival last December. I
am in receipt of a card of thanks received from one particular family who expressed their appreciation and
approval of the day's events. It is good to receive fed back from members at any time. It is also good to
receive ideas as well as hear of your concerns.
Our first Welfare meeting for 2011 will be on the 7th February and we look forward to another year serving
you, the members of Phillip Island RSL.
Elwyn Sparks (Rev) Chaplain / Chair Welfare Committee
'It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just bombed.' 'Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword, obviously never encountered automatic weapons.' 'You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me.' - Infantry Sgt.- 'Tracers work both ways.' 'Five second fuses last about three seconds.' The three most useless things in aviation are: Fuel in the bowser; Runway behind you; and Air above you. 'Any ship can be a mine-sweeper. Once.' 'If you see a bomb technician running, try to keep up to him.' 'You've never been lost until you've been lost at Mach 3.'
