STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Chief Minister,Mehbooba Mufti has stressedon collective and collaborativeefforts by researchers and med-ical practitioners to address thegrowing tendency of spread ofNon Communicable Diseases(NCD) in the society.

Addressing the Second J andK Medical Congress and IstAnnual Conference of MetabolicSyndrome, Pre diabetes,Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(MPPCOS) Society here onWednesday, the Chief Ministersaid due to changes in lifestyleover the years, the non commu-nicable diseases like diabetes,hypertension, cardiac ailments,cancers etc. have shown anincreasing trend and it needsthe collective efforts by medicalscientists, practicing doctorsand medicos to look at the caus-es, remedies and possible pre-ventive measures.

Mehbooba Mufti said thoughtmany massive health pro-grammes and infrastructurehave been spread all across,awareness about the spread andcauses of these diseases is whatcan deliver the desired results.

She emphasised on adoptingpreventive and promotivehealthcare measures to min-imise the growing spread ofthese lifestyle diseases ratherthan waiting for the curativesmeans.

The Chief Minister said hergovernment has flagged health-care as a priority area and mas-sive infrastructure in terms ofhealth centres, medical collegesand institutes is being raisedacross. She said the medical fra-ternity, particularly the doctorsand para medics, have per-formed exceptionally in deliver-ing healthcare services to peopleover the years. She said manysurveys and data have vouchedfor the better state of healthhere and Jammu & Kashmirsurpassing Kerala and Delhi inlife expectancy is a pointer. Shehoped that the doctor would

continue their hard work andmaintain this standard.

The Chief Minister welcomedthe delegates from outside theState and abroad and hopedthat they would go back to theirplaces as the ambassadors ofKashmir.

In his address, Minister forHealth & Medical Education,Bali Bhagat hoped the recom-mendations from the confer-ence would be very useful intackling the rising trend of noncommunicable diseases in thesociety.

He complimented SKIMSfor having come up as a topnotch medical research centrein the State and hoped it wouldsoon attain parity with the bestinstitutes in the country.

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Minister forFood, Civil Supplies andConsumer Affairs (FCS&CA),Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, onWednesday directed the officersof the Department to effecttransfers of assistant storekeepers and store keepers in afair and transparent manner,and prepare a uniform proto-type for the recruitment ofClass-IV employees. Speakingat a review meeting of FCS&CAheld under his chairmanship,the Minister said that transfersof field level functionaries up toassistant store keepers andstore keepers who have a stay oftwo years at one particular placeshould be transferred from thatplace. He asked the officers thatthere should be no favoritismduring the process so that thepurpose of transfers is served inits true essence.

The Minister was briefed thatthe Department is presently

finalizing the transfer list of offi-cials and soon the transferswould be executed in a free andfair manner.

For the recruitment of Class-IV employees in the depart-ment, Zulfkar directed to pre-pare a prototype advertisementfor entire state. Stressing tocomplete the prototype by July15 this year he said such a sys-tem would help in maintaininguniformity during the recruit-ment process.

He also impressed upon offi-cers to ensure that food grainsare lifted and distributed in atimely manner so that con-sumers would not have to faceany kind of difficulty.

Expressing satisfaction overthe work carried out by theDepartment in the recent past,he said the perception ofFCS&CA Department is grad-ually improving. He added thatstill lot more needs to be done inthis regard for which everyone

from the Department has towork hard. Directing the offi-cers to finalize Antyodaya AnnaYojana (AAY) list, the Ministersaid that list should be re-veri-fied by concerned MLA, signedby Vigilance MonitoringCommittees (VMC), and sub-mitted by next fortnight to thedirectorate office. He added thelist should afterwards beuploaded on transparency por-tal. He also directed FoodCorporation India (FCI) offi-cers to ensure that quality offood grains is maintained andfinalize the Letipora hamalissue. Besides, the Corporationwas also asked to finalize 'HillTransport Subsidy' issue at anearliest.

DDC reviewed progress ofseveral ongoing developmen-tal works being executed byRDD, PHE, R&B and linedepartments.

Meanwhile, several deputa-tions these panchayats calledon the DC and apprised himof their problems anddemands which inter aliainclude construction of PHCat Premnagar, electricity,

drinking water, good connec-tivity, installation of trans-formers, healthcare relatedand other important issues.

DDC assured the people ofan early redressal of theirissues and demands.

DDC takes stock of developmental works

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Minister forHealth and MedicalEducation, Bali Bhagat onWednesday called upon thePrincipal Government MedicalCollege, Srinagar to take allnecessary steps to further aug-ment the medicare services inthe GMC and all its associatedhospitals to meet the heavyrush of patients.

During his visit to SMHSHospital here today, theMinister said that health iscore area of the Governmentand every effort will be made toequip all the health institu-tions, especially the tertiarycare centres with modern diag-nostic gadgets to extend allkinds of medical services to thepatients at their doorsteps. Hecalled upon the doctors andpara-medics to render theirservices in missionary modeand try to win minds andhearts of the patients withpoliteness and humble attitude.

While reviewing the function-ing of the SMHS, the Ministerdirected the Principal to identi-fy all the vacant posts of vari-ous categories and take neces-sary measures for their fillingthrough the concerned recruit-ment agencies on fast-trackbasis. Authorities should mon-itor the recruitment process

regularly to ensure timely fill-ing up of various vacanciescausing due to retirement orpromotion quotas so that theservices in different wings donot suffer for want of manpow-er, said the Minister.

The Minister extensivelyinteracted with the doctors,para-medics, patients and

their attendants and receiveddetailed feedback of services,vis-à-vis rush of patients andfurther requirements toimprove the facilities.

He laid thrust on improvingthe sanitation in and aroundthe hospital and a well-knitmechanism to facilitate thepatients, especially in theemergency block.

The doctors and paramedicsalso brought some issues relat-ing to the functioning of theinstitution, working condi-tions, requirements to improvethings on ground. TheMinister assured to addressthe issues on priority.

During the inspection of var-ious units, wards, the Ministeralso interacted with a Policejawan, who was injured a fewdays ago in some militancyrelated incident, and directedthe administration to providefree and best possible treat-ment to him. He wished himspeedy recovery.

SRINAGAR: Custodian General J and K, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat onWednesday called a review meeting to discuss the progress of thedepartment.

Deputy Custodian (Central) and all officials were present in thismeeting. The meeting discussed Evacuee property matters.

Custodian General stressed upon the officials to work with zeal anddedication for protection and preservation of evacuee property anduplift of the department.

Bhat informed the officers that CM is taking keen interest inpreservation and management of the evacuee property in the Stateand has desired for immediate removal of encroachment from theevacuee land and retrieval thereof for its optimum use by way ofdevelopment of infrastructure and revenue generating assets.

Bhat emphasized for recovery of revenue and achievement of tar-get fixed for the current financial year and initiating immediateprocess for revision of rent of evacuee property houses, shops andland in accordance with the provisions of J&K Evacuees(Administration of property) Act, Svt. 2006.
