SeniorsFestival2017
2 March to3 April
MAYOR’S MESSAGEWelcome to Seniors Festival celebrations in Ku-ring-gai!
On behalf of Ku-ring-gai Council, I’m delighted to announce Seniors Festival celebrations for older residents in Ku-ring-gai. NSW Seniors Week is being celebrated between 3 and 12 March, but as we have so much to offer in Ku-ring-gai we have decided to extend the celebrations for the whole month.
Our month of free or low-cost activities and events include those organised by Council and local organisations. This guide tells you everything you need to know about what’s on offer, but please book early to ensure you don’t miss out!
The opening event is the Mayoral Awards on Thursday 2 March, which will honour some of Ku-ring-gai’s most outstanding senior citizens making a difference to the lives of others in our community. Congratulations and thank you to our winners and those who were nominated. We are very grateful for Turramurra Uniting Church for their continuing support in allowing us to hold this event.
Other highlights of the Festival include a free movie screening, a sightseeing tour of Sydney, iPad workshops and an Easter treats cooking demonstration.
In all we are promoting around 30 events, guaranteed to cater for all tastes and interests.
Thank you to all the organisations and community groups who are supporting the festivities, in particular Event Cinemas at the Macquarie Centre which is offering a free screening of the movie Alone in Berlin.
I hope you enjoy our Seniors Festival this year!
