Sausage Roll
Ingredients
Lg. Pizza Dough 1 C. Romano Cheese 2 ½ C. Mozzarella Cheese 1 Large Onion 4 Garlic Cloves 1 Lb. Hot or Sweet Italian Sausage (Browned) Vito & Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil Salt
How to Prepare
Pre-‐heat oven to 400º.
Dice onions and garlic. Caramelize onions & garlic in 3-‐4 T. Vito & Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil for 20 minutes on medium heat on stove. Place pizza stone in oven to warm for 15-‐20 minutes while you prep the sausage roll, then remove from oven and set aside.
Roll out dough into a large rectangle. Drizzle Vito & Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil on dough, sprinkle with salt. Sprinkle browned sausage on dough leaving one
edge as a clean edge. Spread the caramelized onions & garlic on top of sausage. Top with mozzarella and Romano cheese. Gently roll tightly up to clean edge. Wet clean edge with water and press to seal. Tuck in sides and place on pizza stone, shaping to stone making sure all edges are on the stone. Lightly drizzle with Vito & Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Bake for 15-‐40 minutes depending on the size of your sausage roll. Larger sausage rolls will take longer. Slice and serve with your favorite sauce.
