New Experience for the Home Page
SAP has redesigned the home page user experience so that it's simpler and more engaging. You can enable it in the Upgrade Center and control access to it with role-based permission. The latest home page experience includes:
• quick access to frequent or important actions• dynamic, individualized content for the user• custom content for the organization• a consistent experience on all devices, both on the Web and in our mobile app• a banner image for branding• a simplified administration experience
The latest home page incorporates customer feedback and addresses known issues. It's faster to load, less cluttered, and more interactive.
New Experience for the Home Page
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
• To enable it, you need to have the ability to manage role-based permissions.• To see it, you need to have the User > General User Permission > Access the Latest
Home Page permission.• To configure it, you need to have the Administrator > Manage System
Properties > Manage the Latest Home Page permission.
Auto Data Purge in Preview Instances
You can choose which data to be purged in your preview instance and set retention periods. You can check purge schedules under each data type.
SAP has started to purge audit data periodically in preview instances as of the 1H 2020 release. In the 2H 2020 release, SAP added two more data types, person-related audit data and attachments, to the auto data purge process. You can configure what data to purge and set retention periods on the new tab Auto Data Purge. SAP also made some UI changes to the Data Retention Management tool:
• DRTM, DRM, and legacy purge functions are moved to the new tab Manual Data Purge. Purge functions remain the same.
• User Permanent Purge was renamed as System Identifier Purge. Purge functions remain the same.• Auto Data Purge is only visible in preview instances.
This enhancement accommodates different business needs and provides insight into the impact of data purge on your preview instances.
Configuration Requirements
The Auto Data Purge tab is only available in preview instances.
Auto Data Purge in Preview Instances
In the current version, the auto data purge process in preview instances included two more data types. Customers can decide which data to be kept and for how long. They can also check the implementation schedules.
now
Auto Data Purge in Preview Instances
In the previous version, the auto data purge process in preview instances only included non-person related audit data. Customers couldn't opt out of such purge process, nor did they know when the purge plans were implemented.

Qualtrics Cards on the Home Page
You can display a card on the SAP SuccessFactors Home Page so that your employees can participate in a Qualtrics survey.
Providing a direct link to surveys in the SAP SuccessFactors Home Page allows organizations to gain real-time insight into employee sentiments.
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
Administrator > Manage System Properties > Manage the Latest Home Page
Option to Disable Certain Search Fields for Directory Search
You now have the option to disable one or more search fields of the advanced search for Employee Directory so that the fields are not shown in Directory Search and don't affect the search results.
You can disable the following search fields of Directory Search:
<Department>
<Division>
<Location>
<Hire Date From/To>
<Job Code>
<National ID>
The enhancement allows administrators to remove the search fields that are not required or that may raise data privacy concerns in their organizations.
Option to Disable Certain Search Fields for Directory Search
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
You have the Administrator →Manage System Properties → Company System and Logo Settings permission.
Refresh Entitlement
Using the self-service Instance Refresh tool, you can now view your company's refresh entitlement including the number of completed, scheduled, and remaining refreshes.
Every customer is entitled to two refreshes per instance for a calendar year. For example, if there are five instances including production and non-production instances, then you are entitled to get 10 refreshes as a part of the standard purchase every year.
This enhancement improves the data center's stability and availability.
Register SAP SuccessFactors Tenants for Integration Monitoring on SAP Cloud ALM
UniversalIntegration
Register SAP SuccessFactors Tenants for Integration Monitoring on SAP Cloud ALM
Register your SAP SuccessFactors tenant with SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (SAP Cloud ALM) using the Integration Monitoring Registration application for monitoring and managing integration events.
For a registered tenant, Integration Monitoring on SAP Cloud ALM is applicable for the following integrations:
• Bank Data Replication from S/4HANA Cloud to Employee Central
• Company Code Replication from S/4HANA Cloud to Employee Central
• Cost Center Replication from SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration to Employee Central
• Workforce Replication from Employee Central to SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration
Registered tenants can perform end-to-end monitoring of integrations and applications. Also, SAP Cloud ALM monitors the processes’ health, detects issues during execution, identifies process disruptions, to help you take appropriate actions.
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator Permissions →Manage Integration Tools → Access to Integration Monitoring Registration UI permission.
Planned Retirement of HTTP Basic Authentication
SAP plans to retire the HTTP Basic Authentication method to access APIs.
HTTP Basic Authentication (Basic Auth) is an authentication method used to access APIs in SAP SuccessFactors. SAP has stopped developing new features for HTTP Basic Authentication as of the 2H 2020 Release. The end of maintenance is set to 2H 2021. The feature will be retired in 2H 2022.
SAP made the retirement plan for HTTP Basic Authentication in favor of more secure authentication methods such as OAuth.
SAP retired Partner/SOAP APIs in the 2H 2020 Release.
The following Partner/SOAP APIs have been retired and are no longer available as of 2H 2020:
• DocSearchService
• LiveProfileService
• UserService
• SFWebService
• PESelfService
• LearningActivity partner service
• User partner service
SAP retired these APIs to encourage customers to migrate to the new OData technology which offers more features and capabilities.
Retirement of Partner/SOAP APIs
You can now view the total amount of data stored in your tenant including the attachment storage allocated to your tenant.
This enhancement helps you track your tenant's data usage.
Display Tenant's Data Volume
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
Enable the following permissions to View Attachment Size:
• Administrator Permissions →Manage Document Categories → Document Category Access. Select All when you want to give access to all items from the list and Others to select specific items for that role.
• Administrator Permissions →Manage Documents →Manage Documents
The To Number function in business rules now interprets empty strings as “null”.
Further behavior changes are:
• Leading zeros are now being ignored and no longer interpreted as octal numbers.
• Only cardinal numbers (for example, 12996) and decimal numbers (for example, 129.96) are supported. Numbers in any other format stop the rule execution.
With this behavior change, SAP wants to prevent errors when strings are converted to a number.
Behavior Change of To Number Function
In the previous version, empty strings stopped the execution of the rule. Leading zeros were interpreted as octal numbers.
In the current version, empty strings are interpreted as "null", and the rule is being executed. Leading zeros are ignored, and the rule executes on the number.
Collection filters on the business rules user interface (UI) look different now.
You can now identify which data objects are collections by an icon next to them in the dropdown list. In addition, SAP has changed the text on the user interface to help you understand that the rule selects only one entry from the collection depending on your filter criteria.
SAP wants to provide better guidance for the users creating rules so that they can set collection filters correctly and thus prevent errors.
Changed Look of Collection Filters
In the previous version, you had to select the plus sign to be able to define the collection filter. In the current version, the entry field for defining the collection filter is expanded by default.
You can select Null only in the optional input parameters of a function in a business rule.
This change prevents possible errors in a rule because a mandatory field can’t be set to Null.
Null Value Only in Optional Function Input Parameters
In the previous version, you could set a mandatory field to Null. This setting resulted in errors during the execution of a rule.
In the current version, you can’t set a mandatory field to Null to prevent possible errors.
A new type of change audit report, RBP Static Group Membership Change Report, is now available. You can access the new change audit report through Admin Center → Change Audit Reports → Create Configuration Data Report → Role Based Permission.
You can now better track the changes made to the members of RBP static groups. For example, who was removed from a static group and when did the removal happen.
RBP Static Group Membership Change Report
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator → Admin Center Permissions → Generate Change Audit Reports permission.
You can now control access to the reports of DRTM purge requests based on DRTM-enabled countries/regions.
If your company has administrators in different countries/regions responsible for local DRTM data purge, you may want country/region-specific data contained in the reports to be available to local administrators only. You can adopt this enhancement by enabling access control over DRTM purge reports in Admin Center and granting local administrators with country/region-specific role-based permission.
In the previous version, all purge reports are available to users who have access to Data Retention Management.
In the current version, when you enable access control over DRTM purge reports in Admin Center, only users assigned with country/region-specific permission have access to purge reports of DRTM purge requests.
Access Control Over DRTM Purge Reports Based on Countries/Regions
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator Permissions →Manage Data Purge → Additional access control based on DRTM-enabled countries or regions.
The latest version of Directory Search is now available with permission control and improved search experience.
Compared with the legacy Directory Search, you can now do the following with Directory Search:
• Specify which users or user groups can use certain fields in advanced search with Role-Based Permission settings
• Specify which users or user groups can view or export specific information in search results with Role-Based Permission settings
• Control who can send emails to the persons in search results with Role-Based Permission settings• Search by names containing characters with diacritical marks, such as accents, umlauts, and
diareses• Search by tags• Use these search fields or filters, <Job Code>, <Formal Name>, <National ID>, <Hire Date From>,
<Hire Date To>, and custom filters in advanced search• Identify the employees with multiple assignments or employment records in the search results• Identify inactive users in the search results
Users have a consistent search experience across applications. Data protection and privacy requirements are met by restricting the information access with permission control.
Universal Upgrade of Directory Search
Instance refresh using the self-service tool is no longer supported if your target is a productive instance.
If you select a productive instance from the Target Company ID dropdown, the validation check failsand the instance refresh request is not submitted. You receive an email notification with the status Validation Failed.
Guardrails are enabled to avoid accidental refreshes that prevent data and configuration losses on productive instances.
Guardrail for Refresh on Productive Instance
You can sync MDF Data artifacts from one instance to another only if the MDF object has less than 50,000 records.
You must refine your search filters to locate specific records.
Guardrails are enabled to improve system stability and avoid disruption of your system.
Guardrail to Sync MDF Objects
You can now sync role-based permission artifacts successfully even if there are any discrepancies between the source and the target instance.
After performing instance sync, you'll see a warning, and you must manually update any discrepancy in your target instance.
This enhancement improves user experience.
In the current version, the role-based permission roles are synced successfully even if there are any discrepancies between the source and the target instance. However, the instance sync is completed with warnings. You must manually update the discrepancies in the target instance.
In the previous version, while syncing the role-based permission artifact, the instance sync failed if there were any discrepancies between the source and the target instance.
Sync Role-Based Permissions Artifacts
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
Enable Administrator Permissions →Manage Instance Synchronization → Sync RBP Permission Roles role-based permission.
You can schedule an integration to run every hour or two with an execution frequency of a minimum three times per day up to a maximum of twelve times per day.
This enhancement improves user experience by letting you choose the execution frequency and time between two successive integration runs.
Enhanced Execution Frequency for Scheduled Integrations
You can configure the validity period for Authentication Keys (SSH), Decryption Keys (PGP), and Signing Keys (PGP) in the Security Center within the Integration Center.
This feature enhances security by enabling Key Rotation, which replaces an expired key with a new key.
Validity of Security Keys Generated in Security Center
You can use a new business scenario to replicate job classification data from Employee Central to SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration.
The new business scenario, Job Classification Replication from Employee Central to SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration, replicates job classifications to SAP Cloud Platform Master Data Integration, which is now the central hub for distributing master data. From there, other applications such as SAP Fieldglass can fetch and consume the replicated data.
SAP built this new business scenario to help customers replicate job classification data more efficiently and with minimum set-up efforts.

When a configurable UI of an MDF object is selected as the default screen, the changes made to the UI in the Manage Configuration UI tool are consistent across the Manage Data page and the Workflow Details page when you view, create, or edit the MDF object.
UI configuration of an MDF object is aligned in the Manage Data page and in the workflow approval page to bring you a consistent user experience.
In the current version, when we use the Manage Configuration UI tool to change the default screen UI of an MDF object, the changes are shown both in the Manage Data page and the Workflow Details page.
In the previous version, when we use the Manage Configuration UI tool to change the default screen UI of an MDF object, the changes were shown only in the Manage Data page but not in the Workflow Details page.
Configurable UI for MDF Objects On Workflow Details Page
SAP has enhanced the search results in Manage Data to display records that are created but are pending for approval in the configured workflow.
The enhanced search results enable you to check for records that are pending for approval in the Manage Data user interface and help you avoid creating duplicate records.
Enhanced Search Results in Manage Data
SAP has enhanced the UI of Learning History and Curricula blocks in People Profile.UI enhancements to Learning History and Curricula blocks are as follows:
• Display up to 10 records when the block is collapsed.• Display up to 50 records when the block is expanded.• If there are more than 50 records, the total number of records are shown with a link to
the details.• The completion status of learning events is displayed in the Learning History block.
The enhancements improve user experience and provide parity with the legacy UI of Employee Profile.
Enhanced UI of Learning History and Curricula Blocks
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the User → Employee Data → Background permission. You also have permission to edit/view the Learning History and Curricula items.
Option to Prevent Employees from Uploading Background Images into People Profile
Admin Opt-inPeople Profile
You can now restrict how employees change their background images to only choosing a background image from the image library. Previously, if employees were allowed to change the background image, they could either upload their own image or select one from the image library.
The enhancement gives administrators the flexibility to control the way that employees edit their background images.
Option to Prevent Employees from Uploading Background Images into People Profile
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator→Manage System Properties→Manage Employee Files permission.
You can now set all fields on the People Profile page as expanded by default. Previously, some of the fields in blocks were collapsed by default.
This enhancement eliminates the need for users to manually expand certain fields for more information.
Option to Prevent Employees from Uploading Background Images into People Profile
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator →Manage System Properties →Manage Employee Files permission.
The LinkedIn block in People Profile is no longer supported in any use case or configuration by SAP SuccessFactors.
SAP retired this feature because LinkedIn will no longer support the integration of the LinkedIn widget into People Profile after 2020.
Retirement of the LinkedIn Block in People Profile
You can now upload a video for About Me and an audio file for My Name into People Profile to help people know about you and how to pronounce your name. You can no longer record a video and audio file for About Me and My Name in your browser.
Most browsers are ending support for recording applets embedded in a web page. This update also allows SAP to create a more consistent user experience within the SAP SuccessFactors product suite.
Upload of Video or Audio Files for About Me and My Name
Role-Based Permissions Prerequisites
You have the Administrator →Manage System Properties →Manage Employee Files permission.
