AUGUST 26, 2018 2 SAINT BERNARD
Imagine you are sitting with the disciples and are part of the conversation we hear about in today’s Gospel. You are talking about Jesus telling the people that he is the Living Bread come down from heaven, and you are all finding it hard to understand or accept his words. Jesus knows you are murmuring about it and joins the conversation, saying that his words are Spirit and life. Jesus says, “There are some of you who do not believe.” The Gospel says many of Jesus’ disciples went back to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him because his teachings seemed too difficult. Today many people refuse to accept Jesus. Still others are believers but face many different choices and temptations that prevent them from being good followers. In the Gospel Jesus also asks those who were closest to him, knowing they don’t always understand him either, if they want to go. Peter is the one who answers Jesus’ question aloud: “Master, to whom shall we go? You alone have the words of everlasting life.” Jesus’ question is also directed to us.

brickwork is almost completed. Our memorialized bricks are being refurbished and will soon be back in place. We
are also anticipating the refurbishing of all other memorial bricks in the front of church and at the other

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT “If it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today whom you will serve…As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” JOSHUA 24:15 When we commit to serve the Lord, we must be willing to become a partner in the work of the Lord. A partner is a person who invests time in prayer every day, joyfully participates in charitable works and generously supports the parish and Church mission. If we say we serve God, we must actually do something and not merely talk about it!
