We have special programs for children, teens and adults who would like to become Catholic or complete their Sacraments. Please call 856-983-0077.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR Congratulations to all who have been recently engaged! We invite you to consider a Church wedding (contrary to what you may have heard, Church weddings do not have to be BIG church weddings!). We would be honored to help you prepare for your wedding day. Please call the Parish Office (ask for Pat—856.983.0077) at your earliest convenience. Marriage prep in the Church is easier (and more fun) than you may think!
CONSIDERING A DESTINATION WEDDING? If you are considering a destination wedding, please give us a call to discuss available options to have your marriage blessed as one of the seven Sacraments. Even if you aren’t sure what the Sacrament of Marriage is all about, give us a call. We think you will be pleasantly surprised!
ALREADY CIVILLY MARRIED?
Or married in another faith tradition? We would love to talk to you about having your marriage blessed in the Catholic Church.

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL COMMUNION (during the time we cannot be present for Mass)
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You are already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.”
6th Sunday of Easter/2020
WHERE HAVE THEY PUT THE
ASCENSION
GOSPEL JOHN 14:15-21 Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
(Click Here for All this Sunday’s Readings)
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
During this confinement, many of us are getting our days and dates a bit confused. It’s difficult to tell the difference between a weekday and a weekend. Last week, for instance, I arrived in a cemetery a day early for a graveside service. Being prompt is one thing, but that was a bit much (although the cemetery was so peaceful I was half tempted just to stay there for the 24 hours).
In a year when keeping track of time has been a challenge, it seems right and just that Ascension Thursday will not be celebrated on a Thursday. You read correctly: this year it will be ASCENSION SUNDAY!
While it is true that we here in the Diocese of Trenton, and in all of New Jersey, have ALWAYS celebrated the Feast of the Lord’s Ascension on a Thursday (on the 40th day since Easter Sunday), it is also true that in many parts of the United States, and indeed throughout much of the Catholic world around the globe, the Feast of the Ascension has always been celebrated on the Sunday before Pentecost. For example, Fr. Jorge NEVER celebrated the Ascension on a Thursday until he came here to New Jersey.
Bishops have always had the option to move this particular Holy Day to Sunday. If moving Holy Days seems a bit odd to you, consider the Feast of the Epiphany. It is a Holy Day and everyone knows it is celebrated on the 12th day after Christmas … except not in the United States. Here, our Bishops decided a long time ago to move it to a Sunday. So, this sort of thing has been permitted for a long time.
The reason the NJ Bishops are moving it this year obviously has to do with the pandemic. Why have a Holy Day of Obligation when the obligation has been suspended because of stay-at-home orders? But let’s be honest: most people, including most of the people reading this letter, have skipped this particular Holy Day for years, which is exactly the reason most bishops in our country and around the world moved it in the first place.
It is my personal opinion (not that anyone has asked for it), that Ascension Thursday should ALWAYS be on a Sunday so that as many people as possible can celebrate the Paschal Mystery in its entirety: the suffering, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ and the sending of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (which, by the way, is ALWAYS on a Sunday … even this year!)
Keep the Faith and Keep Smiling (whenever you can), Fr. Rich
QUESTIONS TO SHARE
1) In your life, who has recently proclaimed Christ to you. What was the occasion?
2) If you were asked today “what is the reason for your hope,” what reason would you offer? How would you phrase your answer?
3) How would you summarize the commandments of Jesus and how do you strive to keep them in your daily life?
4) Jesus promises his disciples that the Holy Spirit will stay with them…. How are you now experiencing the presence of the Spirit in your life now?

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION MINISTRY
Registration Open
by Mail Only Our mission is to help parents share the Catholic faith with their children through several methods of learning. We hope to bring these young people to a deeper relationship with God from the teachings and love of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Methods of learning:
•Traditional classroom: On Monday or Tuesday afternoons for Grades 1-5 and Monday or Tuesday evenings for Grades 6,7, and 8. This program runs from September until May.
•Home Study - Grades 3,4,5 and 6. This is for parents who cannot bring their child to the Monday or Tuesday classroom settings. The parent would teach the child at home one lesson per week. We also ask that your child attend three activities throughout the school year.
•Family Catechesis: - This program is offered to 1st and 2nd grade parents only. As a parent you will teach your child at home for three weeks with curriculum provided and then attend a class once a month in the evening with your child to reinforce what was taught at home. Both parent and child must attend this once a month class. Dates for once a month classes will be announced in July.
• Special Disciples - This is a classroom setting for those with special needs. Our catechists are certified to teach children with special needs and we have a one on one approach with the children. This program runs every other Sunday during the 9am Mass from October until April.
Please register for traditional classes as soon as possible as our Monday classes fill quickly.
Tuition : 1 child-$100, 2 children-$125
3+ children-$150
