During Rotary Fellowships Month, Rotary Clubs indulge in fellowship
activities & thanksgiving by holding inter-club meetings, circulating
“Rotary Fellowship” literature, & inviting speakers to share their
experiences. For as Paul Harris stated, “The foundation upon which
Rotary is built is friendship; on no less firm foundation could it have stood.”
Celebrating Our Rotary Year!
This week, our entire meeting was about Fellowship…it was our
celebration of Rotary year 2018-2019.
It was a lovely evening at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, which had been
remodeled and served as a beautiful backdrop for our meeting.
President Venita recapped the year by focusing on our activities and
successes, the Rotarians who made all things possible, and recognizing
those whose service made a difference in the community and the overall
operation of our club. A great deal happened over the past twelve
months--tours, new member inductions, support given to local
organizations, relocation of our meeting site, and major events such as
the Pizza Challenge.
Joining Venita were her children and grandchildren (who were extremely
well behaved!). We were so happy they could join her at the end of
her year. As anyone who has served as Club President knows, the
families serve as well during those presidential years.
Receiving special recognition this year (not a complete list since a
couple of awards will be presented as surprises later):
Les Stauffer Community Service
Award presented by President Elect Teri Surin – Jean Schlecht, age 91,
who is the cofounder of Trumbull Mobile
Meals as well as the Trumbull County
Hospice Program. Her accomplishments
were extensive and awards numerous.
She graciously accepted the award on
behalf of all the Mobile Meals volunteers.
And…has promised to support us at next

year’s Slice of the Valley Pizza Challenge! We offer her our
heartfelt congratulations.
Rookie of the Year Award – This
year’s Rookie was none other than
Lisa Taddei. She was completely taken
aback, but truly honored to be
selected. Lisa will also be taking her
seat on the Club Board of Directors
beginning July 1.
The Distinguished Rotarian and
Rotarian of the Year Awards, while
announced at our event are not listed
here as we hope to surprise the
recipients at next week’s meeting.
Once you hear the names, we are sure
you will all agree that they are most
deserving of recognition.
President Venita also took a few moments to personally thank some of
the club members who were especially helpful to her this year. They
included Christine Cope, Andy Bednar, Lauren Kramer, Diane Sauer,
and Cheryl Oblinger.
After each Board and Foundation member received a token of
appreciation from Venita, she eagerly installed the new board members
and officers for the upcoming Rotary year. Not surprisingly, she looks
forward to holding the title Past President beginning July 1.
Those serving as club officers and board members for the coming year
are:

Dominic Mararri – President Elect Lisa Taddei

After the installation of officers and board members, Teri Surin
spoke of how honored she felt to be our upcoming President. She
shared some of her plans for her year and said that she would be
calling on all of us for guidance and support. She also thanked
the staff of DiLucia’s for the delicious food and for making this night
so special.
Special thanks also went out to our entertainer for the evening, Evan
Barratt, a 15-year old musical prodigy who played throughout our
social hour and dinner. He was absolutely amazing!
All in all, it was a wonderful evening spent with some of our favorite
people, celebrating another terrific Rotary year.

CLUB DUES: Invoices have been mailed out, and payment is due no later than June 30, 2019!! ROTARY MEMORABILIA UP FOR GRABS – Barry Dunaway has several boxes
full of Rotary “stuff” that he has inherited over the past 30 years that he
needs to clear out of his office within the next few weeks. If you would
like to peruse these items and have them as your own, please contact Barry
as soon as possible.
MOBILE MEALS is in need of drivers to continue providing services to
the community. Some good folks and extended family have helped with the route that The Rotary Club of Warren has covered for many years.
However, a few are unable to continue this commitment. If you are able
to help out once a month, even if it’s only for the summer, please contact
Volunteer Coordinator, Teri Dean at the Mobile Meals office. Remember,
sometimes Mobile Meals drivers are the only person homebound individuals
