A remote managed inventorysystem (RMI) allows more effi-cient management of productbetween supplier and customer(user of material). A RMI col-lects and centralizes inventorymeasurements at the customerfacility (or facilities) and givesvarious remote users access tothis data as needed. RMIensures a timely and reliablesupply of raw materials.
An alternative method to RMIthat returns a similar result iscalled a vendor managedinventory system (VMI). In a VMI thecustomer retains responsibility forinventory management. The measure-ment database is maintained at thesupplier’s site or some other agreedupon third party location.
Why implement RMI or VMI solutions? ARMI/VMI solution provides insight intoraw material usage patterns, seasonalvariations, etc. This understanding mini-mizes confusion associated with orderdetails and lessens the need for emer-gency rush shipments, or excess “safe-ty” inventory. RMI/VMI benefits caninclude:
• A reduction in man hours for inventory measurement.
• Enhanced safety and lower insurance costs as a result.
• A reduction in change orders and administrative costs.
• And much more. . .

Monitor’s Flo-Pad bin aer-ator promotes the flow ofany dry bulk powder orgranular material frombins, hoppers and silos.Such materials are highlyaerated when entering thestorage vessels, and flowquite easily entering thevessel by pneumatic orgravity feed. After beingin storage for a time, theair escapes and allows thematerial to pack, andbehave more like a solidmass than a fluid mixture.Flo-Pad uses multipleEvassers mounted on a sin-gle air plenum chamber tocreate multi-directional airrelease and re-fluidizestored material.
Flo-Pad is virtually mainte-nance free and does notcreate noise or damagingvibration, like pneumatic orelectric actuated vibrating

devices. The Evassershave a standard neopreneboot that is designed toprevent material back-flow. In addition, theEvassers are less likely tobecome clogged due tomoisture, as are aeratorsthat use cotton or canvasto diffuse the air.
Flo-Pads can be used forvirtually any application. They are available in 18in. (457 mm) and 60 in.(1524 mm) sizes, having 8and 28 Evassers respec-
tively. The most effectiveaeration of dry bulk mate-rials is typically achievedby use of multiple rows ofFlo-Pads, one row locat-ed in each quadrant ofthe sloping vessel bot-tom. Flo-Pad maintains aconstant 2 to 5 psi (0.14to 0.35 bar) supply of air.Units are also availablefor higher pressures of upto 80 psi (5.5 bar), to dis-lodge and move highlysettled materials, and forhigh temperature applica-tions.
