A NOTE REGARDING HOLY COMMUNION Welcome! In the Orthodox Church, reception of the Holy Eucharist is
reserved for baptized, chrismated Orthodox Christians who have prepared
by prayer, fasting and a recent confession. If you are visiting from a non-
Orthodox church or otherwise are not prepared to commune today, you are
welcome to receive some of the unconsecrated, blessed bread which the
acolytes are holding. We pray for all to be united in the Body and Blood of
Christ! If you would like to learn how you can enter into communion with
the Orthodox Church, please speak with our clergy.

Summary of Previous Collection: Heart Reach Center During Great Lent we collected 519 diapers and 1.5 pounds of formula for
the Heart Reach Center in Wasilla. We were able to give them 4 baskets
full of baby gifts for new mothers, each basket was full of bottles, pacifiers,
bottle brushes, pacifier clips, socks, hats, clothes, rattles, teethers, baby
books, toys, stuffed animals, diaper creams and powders, shampoo, lotion,
washcloths, hooded towels, teething gel, nail clippers, aspirators, infant
medicines, handmade blankets, and more! The HRC was amazed at how
nice everything was in the baskets, appreciative of the number of diapers,
and very impressed the women of our church were willing to donate such
nice, new handmade quilts/knit blankets too which will be given away for
free to new mothers. May God bless all who donated for your generosity!

THE GOSPEL (CONTINUED) me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your pallet, and walk.” And at
once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked. Now
that day was the Sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who was
cured, “It is the Sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pallet.”
But he answered them, “The man who healed me said to me, ‘Take
up your pallet, and walk.’” They asked him, “Who is the man who
said to you, ‘Take up your pallet, and walk’?” Now the man who had
been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as
there was a crowd in the place. Afterward, Jesus found him in the
temple, and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing
worse befalls you.” The man went away and told the Jews that it was
Jesus Who had healed him.Salome, bought spices so that they might go
and anoint Him. And very early on the first day of the week they went to
the tomb when the sun had risen. And they were saying to one another,
“Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?” And
looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back—it was very large.
SAINTS & FEASTS OF THE DAY Fourth Sunday of Pascha: Sunday of the Paralytic;

THE EPISTLE Sing praises to our God, sing praises.
Clap your hands, all you nations.
The Reading from the Acts of the Saintly and Pure Apostles.
(9:32-42)
In those days, as Peter went here and there among them all, he
came down also to the saints that lived at Lydda. There he found a
man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years and was
paralyzed. And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise
and make your bed.” And immediately he rose. And all the residents
of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord. Now there
was at Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which means Dorcas. She was
full of good works and acts of charity. In those days she fell sick and
died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.
Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was
there, sent two men to him entreating him, “Please come to us without
delay.” So Peter rose and went with them. And when he had come,
they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him
weeping, and showing tunics and other garments, which Dorcas made
while she was with them. But Peter put them all outside and knelt
down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, rise.”
And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. And he
gave her his hand and lifted her up. Then calling the saints and
widows he presented her alive. And it became known throughout all
Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
THE GOSPEL The Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John. (5:1-15)
At that time, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by
the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Bethesda, which has five
porticoes. In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed,
waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel of the Lord went
down at certain seasons into the pool and troubled the water; whoever
stepped in first, after the troubling of the water was healed of whatever
disease he had. One man was there, who had been ill for 38 years.
When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long
time, He said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” The sick man
answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the
water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before
A GOOD WORD “We do not change the boundaries marked out by our Fathers. We
keep the Tradition we have received. If we begin to lay down the
Law of the Church even in the smallest things, the whole edifice will
fall to the ground in no short time.” -- St. John of Damascus
“All who ask receive, those who seek find, and to those who knock
it shall be opened. Therefore, let us knock at the beautiful garden of
Scripture. It is fragrant, sweet, and blooming with various sounds of
spiritual and divinely inspired birds. They sing all around our ears,
capture our hearts, comfort the mourners, pacify the angry, and fill
us with everlasting joy.” – St. John of Damascus
“I do not worship matter, I worship the God of matter, who became
matter for my sake and deigned to inhabit matter, who worked out
my salvation through matter. I will not cease from honoring that
matter which works for my salvation. I venerate it, though not as
God.” – St. John of Damascus
