RECYCLING THAT BENEFITS EVERYONE.THIS WAY!
Adopting sustainable business practices and handling them in the right way is the foundation that contributes across the entire business value chain.
RECYCLING WITH SANDVIK BENEFITS BUSINESS
What this means for your productivity, your business and the environmentThe Sandvik recycling process significantly reduces energy consumption, lowers carbon and nitrous oxide emissions and produces less waste.
Environmental considerations are crucial in all operations at Sandvik, and never more so than when it comes to the recycling of cemented carbide. The global shortage of raw material has inspired our scrap recycling program.
Sandvik recognizes today’s increasing environmental concerns and is currently the only mining company that recycles both steel and cemented carbide.
In fact, Sandvik has been operating in the collection and recycling of scrap and discarded drilling consumables
for conversion back into basic raw materials for almost 10 years. Many satisfied customers already work with us as partners in our recycling program. We make it as easy as possible for our customers to participate in our recycling program with collection at customer location. All Sandvik Mining customer service centers are now set up to receive used cemented carbide-enhanced products.
Our Chiplun recycling plant complies with the most stringent environmental standards, and is certified to the ISO 14001 international standard.
• Energy consumption is reduced by around 75 percent compared with using virgin materials.
• This reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 40 percent per cemented carbide insert produced.
• Nitrous oxide emissions are reduced, while the use of hazardous chemicals is virtually eliminated.
Incorporating recycling into the business process will improve the
supply chain
