Reading, Writing & Word Work

Reading: This week we will work on:

• asking and answering questions to help deepen our learning

• begin group and class discussions

• making meaningful connections

Writing: This week we will begin exploring narratives through the discussion of:

• Main events • Sensory Details • Transition words

Core Knowledge:

• Long vowels • syllables with consonant le

• spellings g and c

Math In math this week we will discuss:

• The meaning of the unknown as the number of groups in division.

• Arrays with division • Commutativity of

multiplication by skip-counting

• Related multiplication facts by adding and subtracting equal groups and array models

We will take a quiz on topic B skills on Thursday.

Social Studies In social studies this week we will discuss:

• Major geographic features of Louisiana

• Cardinal and intermediate directions

We will take a district formative on Wednesday covering all map concepts taught. We will continue in the week discussing:

• How people have changed the land over

This Week: • Yearbook pictures will be Friday August 26th.
