EVERYONE hasmentors thatguide them, butValerie Barrow'smentors are outof this world. TheMoss Vale resi-dent is an experi-

enced medium who has beenguided by spiritual mentors towrite and publish books. Valeriewas contacted by ghostly guideswhen she was younger thatprompted her to write aboutother divine worlds and her ownspiritual insights."It all started when a voice wokeme at night, it felt like a voice wascalling to me. The voice asked meto have paper and pen beside mybed so that if I was awakened, these spiritual mentors couldteach me how to write and that'swhat they did," Valerie said."They said that they would likeme to write a book and that sortof freaked me out because I did-n't think I had the ability to writea book or have it published. I hadno idea where to start but I wentahead and did my best and theyhelped me."

For Valerie, her involvement withspiritual beings really startedwhen she had a near-death expe-rience in her mid-30s. At thattime, she was diagnosed with askin disease that required a sig-nificant change in diet. The diet she was put on by herdoctor lacked essential proteinsthat made her collapse."I couldn't move or open my eye-lids but I was conscious," shesaid."I left the body and was aware ofeverything and I felt so free. I didask God if I could stay on earthbecause I was worried about mychildren. The next thing I knew, Iwas awake again and from thenon I knew that my real role was tointegrate that other world I was

connecting to with what happenshere on earth."Seven years after Valerie had thisnear-death experience, her men-tors began calling her to learnabout past lives and outer bodyexperiences. She participated ina series of lessons from herguides that taught her all sheknows about being a mediumtoday."I learnt quite a lot. It was like Iwas going to a university and itwas a wonderful experience," shesaid.Through these spiritually guidedlessons, Valerie has written andpublished two books named TheBook of Love and Alcheringa. Her new book came about duringa trip to Egypt, where Valerie was

asked by her mentors to writeabout her travels with her hus-band and the spiritual insightthey gained on their journey."It has taken me three years butI've done it," she said."I got to the stage where I realisedI couldn't financially publish itmyself again. I told my mentorsthat they would have to find apublisher for me." "I happened to see one of theSociety of Women's Writersnewsletters open to a page withan advertisement for a publisherin Hong Kong who was acceptingmanuscripts. The companywrote to me and said they wouldlike to publish it. The book hasnow gone to print and will be outin November or December andwill be going all around theworld."This is Valerie's third book and ifit receives enough attention, willbe translated into other lan-guages like her other two books. For more information and to buyher books visitwww.valeriebarrow.com.
