You will need to create an account only if;
Your student is new to the district. You did not activate an account last school year.
If you do not remember your login information, please contact the school.

Instructions for Creating NEW Blackboard/Parent Portal Accounts
You must have an ACCESS ID and PASSWORD from the school for each student!
1. Open a web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, FireFox, etc…) and type
bb.apsb.org and hit enter.
2. Click on Our Schools. It is located on the left side.
3. Click on the Parent tab located in the top section of the page.

4. In the Student Information Services, click on the PowerSchool link. This will open the
Parent Portal in Power School.
5. In the Power School box, please click on Create Account

6. The Create Parent/Guardian Account page appears.
*Reminder: Every field must be filled in.
Enter your first name.
Enter your last name.
Enter your email address.
Enter your desired user name. It must be unique and begin with g- (user name
MUST begin with the letter g and a Hyphen). If the name you choose already
exists, you will be prompted to enter a different one after you press the enter button.
Enter your desired password (it must be at least 6 characters in length).
Re-enter your password for validation.

7. Now, link your Student’s (child) Account to your Parent Account.
Enter your student’s first and last name.
Enter the Student Access ID located on the previous page.
Enter the Student Password located on the previous page.
8. If you have another student (child) you may link their Student Account to your Parent
Account by entering their information in at this time, or you may create this connection to
their account later.
*See directions below to return to the account later to enter this information.
9. Now, select the Enter button.
10. If successful, you will be directed to the login screen with the message that says
“Congratulations! Your Parent account has been setup”. It will take 24-hours before you
may access the account in Blackboard.
*If you receive an error message (forgot to fill in a field, your user name or email are not
unique, etc.), you must correct the error and re-enter the student access id and password
for all students listed.

How to Add a Student to Your Parent Account
You will need the Access ID and Access Password for each student you wish to add. If you do not have this
information, contact your school’s Power School administrator.
1. Log in to PowerSchool
2. On the start page, click on Account Preferences from the navigation menu.
3. The Account Preferences-Profile page appears.
4. Click the Student tab.
5. On the Students tab, click the Add icon to add a student to our parent account. The Add Student
dialog appears.
6. Enter the first and last name of the student you want to add to the account.
7. Enter the unique access ID for the student.
8. Enter the unique access password for the student.
9. Choose drop down arrow for as mother/father.
10. Click Submit. The Add Student Dialog closes. The newly added student appears under My
Students.

Log in Instruction:
Enter your g- login and password.
How Do I Access My Child’s Grades:
Once you have logged in, you should see a screen similar to the one below:

Any grades that have been entered by the teacher will appear in the appropriate
quarter box.
Click on the grade itself in the box to see a detailed description of the grade.
How Do Students Access Grades:
Students follow the same process as the parents except they must use their own user name and password that they get from the school. It will be the same username and password that they use to log in to the computer at school.
Ascension Parish staff will have two separate accounts. They will have their faculty information that can be accessed by their APSB username and password. They can access their children’s information using their g-login(Guardian log in) and password.

Log in:
Log in using your parent log in Remember to use the g hyphen (g-) before your username

Click on the class you wish to view in the Course List. My Announcements will contain any announcements from the school
and/or the teacher The Parent tab at the top contains information specific to you.

Instructions on viewing individual children: Log in using your parent log in (remember to use the g-) Click on the Students tab
Scroll down to the Tools module and click on “Observer Dashboard”
Click on the drop down arrow next to the child’s name and then click on “observe”
You will then be able to view that child’s Blackboard classes. (You will get a message
verifying your view, click ok)
