• When the message “Place your finger on sensor” is on, slide the finger across the Ridge-Lock without the finger touching the sensor
Enrollment Technique: Lock Drop & Hold
• Position the finger where the
first joint of the finger meets
the Ridge-Lock.
• Drop the finger onto the sensor using moderate pressure.
• Hold the finger on the sensor until the image appears in the view window.

Suggested Fingers:
Index, middle or ring fingers. Avoid
using thumb and pinky fingers since
they are typically awkward to position
consistently on the sensor.
Suggested Finger and Finger Placement
Finger Placement:
Completely covering the entire area of
the sensor with the fingerprint will
provide the best performance.
Touching the sensor as if pressing a
button creates an image that lacks
information-rich fingerprint data.

Fingerprint Core
A fingerprint core is a point located within the inner most recurving ridge
Most frequent types of core:
• Whorl and Central Pocket Loop
• Loops (singular and twinned)
• Arches (plain and tented)
Normally it is located in the middle of the fingerprint
When enrolling, place the finger on the sensor where the entire core can clearly be seen in the Fingerprint Image window.
Do not enroll thumbs unless it is too difficult to capture a good image from one of the suggested fingers.

Position Placing your finger far from the
center position of the sensor will increase
the rejection rate.
Finger Position, Rotation and Pressure
Rotation Finger rotation should be kept
minimal during enrollment and
verification.
Pressure Apply moderate pressure
when making contact with the sensor.
Too much pressure may cause smudging
of the fingerprint. Too little pressure may
not allow the sensor to recognize the
presence of a finger.

Quality:Quality is a measure of how well the ridge pattern is defined in the captured fingerprint image. Images that are dry or lack sufficient pressure tend have less than three stars.
Content:Content is a measure of how much of the fingerprint core or information-rich region the sensor has captured from the user.
Quality:User should apply more pressure to help better image the fingerprint surface area. Content:Core is properly centered.
Quality:Good quality enrollment. Content:Core is properly centered; surface area and ridge pattern are well-defined.
Quality:Good quality enrollment. Content:Core is not properly centered. User should reposition finger by properly using Ridge-Lock.
Quality:Bad quality enrollment. Ridges are not well-defined. Enroller should use an alternate finger for better imagery.Content:The core is properly centered, but is not well-defined. Enroller should again use an alternate finger.
How to Improve the Image Quality
• Clean the sensor and the finger
• Keep the finger on the sensor for several seconds prior to the enrollment
• Change the finger
