My Jesus, I believe that You are

there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated
from You. Amen.

Notre Dame Tuition Assistance for
Our Lady Queen of Peace Families
Deadline: July 15, 2020
Our parish offers ND tuition assistance for Our Lady
Queen of Peace parishioners in need.
The following are the requirements for this assistance:
Those families who apply for assistance must have their
FACTS report. The FACTS Report that we receive from
the Notre Dame Finance office will greatly assist us in
determining families in need of financial assistance. If you
feel you need financial assistance for tuition to attend Notre
Dame Schools, we must have your information from that
report. The school will provide each individual family
their report. The report will show the financial need and the
percentage of “relatively needier” families. If the report does
not show a financial need please do not apply. Assis-
tance will be limited to students in 5K through Grade 12.
• Those families who apply for assistance should be active
participants in the parish through their “Time–Talent–
Treasure”. Again, if we do not have records to prove this we
will not be able to provide tuition assistance.
• Those applying must request assistance in writing to the
parish office by letter or email to Fr. Alex Ambrose
[email protected]) or Licia Vasquez ([email protected]). For
more information, call the church offi(940.696.1253).
• These requirements are in place so that we can offer
as much assistance as possible and be consistent in our
policies of assistance.
Consider Notre Dame Catholic School for your
children and grandchildren.
Call 940.692.6041 to schedule a tour!
Pantry Items Needed for Interfaith Outreach Ministries: Canned Corn, Boxed Potatoes, Large Jars of

Pg. 5 JUNE 28, 2020
13th Sunday in Ordinary Time: Matthew 10:37-42— Jesus said to his apostles: “Whoever loves father
or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and . . . whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me
is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Jesus makes it clear, we must love God more than we love anyone else, even our family members . . . and even
more than we love our own lives. What does this mean? It means placing God before school, before play, before fami-
ly. Jesus is not telling us that our schoolwork and families are not important. Maybe three examples would clear up
exactly what Jesus means when he says to love God more than others.
Let us say that on the night of All Saint’s Day, I have homework; so, I think I cannot go to Mass. But Jesus would tell
me on this one day to work diligently on homework a2er school and skip playing so that I can obediently do my school-
work and go to Mass to praise God and His saints. Another example would be when we choose our sports teams. In
advance, we should let the coaches know that we go to religion classes and Mass on Sundays, so we will not be able to
a3end prac4ces and games that are scheduled during those hours. Maybe we can even search for or start a team that
also a3ends Church on Sundays and puts God first as we do. We can also show Jesus we put God first when there is a
new student in our school, and we ask him or her to sit with us in the cafeteria. Yes, even in 4mes like this we are
pu8ng our love for Jesus first when we show our love for others.
And here are two examples of people we know who put God first in a special way. When our priest, Fr. Alex and our
religious sisters, Sr. Patricia, Sr. Mary Jean, Sr. Ginny, and Sr. Clara were teenagers, they put serving God before family.
Each made a choice to leave their families and follow God’s call to serve His Church and His people. Did you know that
when your parents chose to allow God to bring you and your siblings to life, they were pu8ng God first by helping God
create new Chris4an boys and girls for the world? Instead of thinking that having children is inconvenient or trouble-
some, your parents trusted God when He asked them to choose love and make new life and from that love came
you! So, you see, there are many ways we can pick up our cross and put our love for God first!
Discuss as a Family: What does it mean for you to love God more than your family or yourself? How do you
show that love? How has God taught you to love others as He loves?
