TheworkshopcentersontheMaterialStorytellingmethodnamed‘ObjectTheatre’asitisdevelopedbytheMaterialStoryLab,AalborgUniversityinDenmark.Drawingonspatial,embodied,andartifactualdimensionsofinteraction,thismethodaimsatcreatingaffordancesfortransformingsocialandinteractionalprocesses:materialartefactsareusedtoscaffoldsocialandinteractionalprocessesinawaythatleadstonewnarrativesandnewformofmeaning-makingormeaning-matteringandhighlightinghowMattercomestomatterinprocessesofbecoming.Thus,theparticularmethodpresentsamicro-cosmosthatenablestheparticipantstoexploretransformativeprocessesonbothpersonal,interactionalandsociallevels. Intunewiththeconferencecalltheworkshopinvitestheparticipantstoinvestigatefirsthand,howMaterialStorytellingasaprocessualeventembeddedwithspecificconstraintonexperience,thought,andfeelingcanbecomesuchanaffordanceforchangeandtransformation.

Themethodsofmaterialstorytellinghavebeenusedineducationalsettingsoveraperiodofthepast10years.Theworkshopwillprovideexamplesfromspecificevents.Theworkshop30min:IntroductionIntroducingthemethodbyprovidingexamplesfromitsuseinvariouseducationalsettingsandbyclarifyingthespecificconstraintsfortheexercisethatfollows.45min:ExplorationhandsonInsmallgroupsandthroughtheuseofvariousmaterialartifactsandstoryboardstheparticipantsexploreaspecificself-chosenthemeorproblematic.15min:DebriefingParticipantsdiscussandsummarizetheexperiencesfromtheexerciseinregardtohownewformsofmeaning-makingemerged,andhowtheprocessualeventprovidedacontingent,dynamicfieldofpossiblebecoming.AbstractsummaryIntunewiththeconferencecalltheworkshoponMaterialStorytellinginvitestheparticipantstoinvestigatefirsthand,howmaterialartefactscanbeusedtoscaffoldsocialandinteractionalprocessesinawaythatleadstonewnarrativesandnewformofmeaning-makinginprocessualeventembeddedwithspecificconstraints.
