Whenanemergencystrikes,whetheritisamulti-caraccidentorahurricane,firstrespondersneedtocoordinateaneffectiveresponse.andattheheartofaneffectiveresponseistheradiocommunicationsbetweenofficersinthesameagenciesandacrossmultipleagencies.aroundtheworldpublicsafetyagencieshaveworkedwithindustryleaderstodevelopandenhanceastandardtoenableinteroperablecommunications.
thetIa-102suiteofstandardsisusedforthedesignofproject25(p25)interoperabledigitaltwo-waywirelesscommunicationproducts.Itisanevolvingstandarduniquelydevelopedbybothequipmentmanufacturersandpublicsafetyuserstomeettheneedsofthepublicsafetycommunityaroundtheworld.thestandardenablesinteroperabilitybetweenmultiplemanufacturer’sp25products.
establIsHed and fully Vetted standardproject25hasatwenty-yearhistorywiththepublicsafetycommunity.Itwasestablishedinoctober1989whenapco(associationofpublicSafetycommunicationsofficials),naStD(nationalassociationofStatetelecommunicationsDirectors),ncS(nationalcommunicationsSystem),ntIa(nationaltelecommunicationsandInformationadministration),andnSa(nationalSecurityagency)agreedtothecreationoftheapco-naStD-feDproject25.Sincethebeginning,thestandardhasbeenuniqueinthatithashadtheinvolvementofpublicsafetyagenciesalongsideindustryleaders.
