Smooth,flatfibrecementsheetthatispaintedon-sitetocreateaflatpanellook.Tough,flexiblesheetingsuitableforexternalcladdingandinternallining.Flatcementsheetsweremadeofasbestosfibresandcementmix,commonlyintheratioof1to9.Intheasbestoscementsheet,asbestosfibresareboundwithinthecementmatrixandareconsideredtobewellimmobilisedinthecementandlesspronetobereleasedintotheenvironment.

Duetoitsasbestoscontent,cementsheetsareheatandmoistureresistantmakingthemidealforuseinwetorheatsensitiveareas.Asbestoscementsheetswereusedasceilingpaneling,internalandexternalwalls,externaleavesacrossdomestic,agricultural,commercialandindustrialapplications.

Oftenreferredtoasfibro.Fibrosheetingisperhapsoneofthecommonestbuildingproductstocomeacrosswhendoingrenovationstoanolderbuilding.Itwaswidelyusedfromthe1950stothelate1980s.Themostlikelyformoffibrotocomeacrossisflatsheetfibro,oftenusedforoutsidecladdingofhouses,shedsandgarages.Thisflatsheetingwassimplynailedtothewoodenframedstructurethusmakingconstructionquickandcheap.

Asbestoscementsheetsarewhitetogreyincolourandarequitehardandbrittle.Whensubjectedtomachining,powertoolsorextensiveweatheringthisproductcanbecomefriableandtheinternalfibresthatwereoriginallyboundedbycementcanbecomeliberatedintotheair.

Anotherkeyidentificationiswhenthenailheadissittingontopofthesheet(notindentedintothesurface).
