54th  International  Theater  Festival  MESS  

GRAND-­‐PRIX  FOR  «KOŠTANA»,  DIRECTED  BY  ANDRÁS  URBÁN  

(SARAJEVO,  October  12,  2014)    

The   Main   Jury   of   the   Festival   consisting   of   President   Nataša   Matjašec-­‐Rošker,   Slovenian  actress,  Carmen  Mehnert-­‐Havekost,  dramaturg  and  program  manager  of  the  production  house  and   festival   Hellerau   in   Dresden   and  Nermin   Hamzagić,   theater   director   from   Sarajevo   has  announced  the  winners  of  54th  International  Theater  Festival  MESS.  

Grand  Prix  –  Golden  Laurel  Wreath  for  Best  Performance  «Koštana»,  directed  by  András  Urbán,  produced  by  Narodno  pozorište  Subotica,  Serbia    Golden  Laurel  Wreath  for  Best  Director  Luk  Perceval  for  the  performance  «Front»  by  Thalia  Theater  and  NT  Gent,  Germany/Belgium    Golden  Laurel  Wreath  for  Best  Actor/ress  Suzana  Vuković  for  the  role  of  the  Mother  in  «Koštana»,  directed  by  András  Urbán,  produced  by  Narodno  pozorište  Subotica,  Serbia  Ermin   Bravo   for   the   role   of   Danilo   in   «This   Grave   is   Too   Small   for  Me»,   directed   by   Dino  Mustafić,  produced  by  Heartefakt  Fond,  BITEF,  Kamerni  teatar  55,  Kazalište  Ulysses,  Testament  films,  Serbia/Bosnia  and  Herzegovina/Croatia  David  Espinosa   for  «My  Great  Work   (An  Ambitious  Project)»,   directed   by  David   Espinosa,  produced  by  EL  Local  E.C.,  C.A.E.T.,  Spain    Golden  Laurel  Wreath  for  Best  Text  in  Balkan  (Con)Text  Biljana  Srbljanović  for  «This  Grave  is  Too  Small  for  Me»,  directed  by  Dino  Mustafić,  produced  by  Heartefakt  Fond,  BITEF,  Kamerni  teatar  55,  Kazalište  Ulysses,  Testament  films,  Serbia/Bosnia  and  Herzegovina/Croatia    „Jurislav  Korenić“  Award  for  Best  Young  Theater  Director    Francesca  Pennini  for  «age»,  produced  by  Colletivo  Cinetico,  Italy    “Rejhan  Demirdžić”  for  Best  Young  Actor/ress      Dina  Mušanović  for  the  role  of  Mirjana  in  «The  Play  about  Mirjana  and  Those  around  Her»,  produced  by  Akademija  scenskih  umjetnosti  Sarajevo,  Bosnia  and  Herzegovina    Special  Mention  of  the  Main  Jury:  «The   Assembly»,   directed   by   Selma   Spahić,   produced   by   Narodno   pozorište  Sarajevo/Sarajevski  ratni  teatar/Kamerni  teatar  55,  Bosnia  and  Herzegovina  «Battlefield  Memory»,   directed   by   Hans-­‐Werner   Kroesinger,   produced   by   HAU   Berlin,   CZKD  Beograd,  Sarajevski  ratni  teatar,  Goethe  Institut    Children   audience   has   decided   upon   the   Golden   Laurel  Wreath   for   the   Best   Performance   for  Children  which  went  to  «Juri  Muri  Dances  in  Africa»,  directed  by  Ivana  Djilas  in  the  production  of   Plesni   teatar   Ljubljana,   Slovenia.   The   Golden   Laurel   Wreath   of   the   Audience   goes   to   «My  Great  Work  (An  Ambitious  Project)»,  directed  by  David  Espinosa,  produced  by  EL  Local  E.C.,  C.A.E.T,  Spain.    The  IATC  (International  Association  of  Theater  Critics)  consisting  of  Žiri  Međunarodne  Kristina  Ljevak,  journalist  and  critic  from  Sarajevo,  Igor  Burić,  theater  critic  from  Novi  Sad,  and  redovni

Monica   Andronescu,   theater   critic   from   Bucharest   decided   to   give   their   prize   for   best  performance  to  «Koštana»,  directed  by  András  Urbán,  produced  by  Narodno  pozorište  Subotica,  Serbia.    The  winners  of  awards  of  our  media  partners  are  as  follows:    • «Oslobođenje»   –   Zlatna   maska   –   «Koštana»,   directed   by   András   Urbán,   produced   by

Mistakes)»,  directed  by  Jan  Lauwers,  produced  by  Needcompany,  Belgium    MESS  Festival  Direction  has  awarded  Paolo  Magelli  and   Jan  Lauwers  with   its  highest  prize   the  Golden   Laurel   Wreath   for   Lifetime   Achievement.   The   Award   “Marko   Kovačević“   for   theater  critics  went   to  Mladen  Bićanić.  MESS  Festival  Critics  Team  consisting  of  young   theater  critics  from   the   region   has   given   the   Award   for   Best   Performance   to   David   Espinosa   for   «My  Great  Work  (An  Ambitious  Project)»,  directed  by  David  Espinosa,  produced  by  EL  Local  E.C.,  C.A.E.T,  Spain.
