Nevada for lecturers & administrators
• Nevada is a database that is used to compile information regarding prescribed & recommended textbooks, to be available for all stakeholders (Library, Publishers & Bookshops)
• This database is updated online by lecturers & administrators for both 1st & 2nd semesters
Definitions
• Prescribed Titles: Books that students need to buy .This Information will be sent to the bookshops.
• Recommended Titles: A copy of each recommended book will be available in the library. Please note that the bookshops will not receive this information.
Instructions for users • To access the database, go to the Library homepage:
www.library.up.ac.za • In the “My Library Space” menu, choose “Nevada”
First time users, please register
If you are already registered, please log in
• First time users, please complete online registration & take note of the password requirements
• After completion of the form your account will receive an activation email message before you will be able to log in
Adding items to your personal list Use the search options to find the relevant item
If you find the correct item click on “Add to list” If not, click on and follow the instructions
Choose this icon
to select whether the title should be
prescribed or recommended (see page 3 for
definitions)
Go to “My Lists” to see the titles you have selected
Complete the form & submit Be sure to indicate whether it is a prescribed or recommended title (see page 3 for definitions)
Go to “Prescribed Books” to view completed list • To see your list, choose “My Prescribed Books” • For Departmental list, choose “Requirement Overview”
The red icon indicates a prescribed title The blue icon indicates a recommended title
To export the file for distribution or approval, click the icon
