What is an Abstract?• Overview summary of your internship experience
• Provides main points or take home messages
• May be used by organizations as the basis for selecting research that is proposed for presentation in the form of a poster, platform/oral presentation or workshop presentation at an academic conference
Purpose of Abstract• Support other students in finding their
field experience placements• Part of a guidebook with abstracts from
each internship • Give you an opportunity
to share your experience• Highlight the work of your
organization
What to Include• Title – Name of your internship project/site– Your name– Your email address
• Abstract: 150 words – single spaced– An overview of the agency
• Mission of the organization• The types of projects they undertake • Goals for your internship
– Description of the project/tasks in which you were involved
What to Include (continued)• Internship Information:– Name and address of your agency– Name and phone number of a contact
person– How you identified the internship– Whether or not you were paid–Would you recommend the internship to
others?
To complete your abstract….• All abstracts will be completed online• Go to
https://www.sph.umich.edu/scr/students/posters/• Fill out the form and copy and paste your
abstract• Hit Submit!!!
