Possible Career Paths Environmental  Engineers  Research,  design,  plan,  or  perform  engineering  duties  in  the  prevention,  control,  and  remediation  of

environmental  hazards  using  various  engineering  disciplines.    Environmental  Economists  Conduct  economic  analysis  related  to  environmental

protection  and  use  of  the  natural  environment,  such  as  water,  air,  land,  and  renewable  energy  resources.  Environmental  Scientists  and

Specialists  Conduct  research  or  perform  investigation  for  the

purpose  of  identifying,  abating,  or  eliminating  sources  of  pollutants  or  hazards  that  affect  either  the  environment  or  the  health  of  the  population.  Environmental

Compliance  Inspectors  Inspect  and  investigate  sources  of  pollution  to  protect  the  public  and

environment  and  ensure  conformance  with  Federal,  State,  and  local  regulations  and  ordinances.  Environmental  Restoration  Planners  Collaborate  with

field  and  biology  staff  to  oversee  the  implementation  of  restoration  projects  and  to  develop  new  products.  Environmental  Engineering  Technicians  Apply  theory  and  principles  of  environmental  engineering  to  modify,  test,  and  operate

equipment  and  devices  used  in  the  prevention,  control,  and  remediation  of  environmental  problems,  including  waste  treatment  and  site  remediation,  under  the  direction  of  engineering  staff  or  scientist.

Jobs in the Military

Environmental  Health  and  Safety  Officers  study

the  air,  ground,  and  water  to  iden;fy  and  analyze  sources  of  pollu;on  and  its  effects.  Environmental  Health  and  Safety  Specialists  inspect  military  facili;es  and  food  supplies  for  the  presence  of  disease,  germs,  or  other  condi;ons  hazardous  to  health  and  the  environment.
