PID-C2 is an improved product of combustiondetector. There are two basic parts, the stan-dard head and the interchangeable base.These items may be combined to obtain a con-figuration suited to the needs of most all fireaJarm systems.

Built better by designPID-C2's exceptional capabilities resultfrom incorporating new compensating cir-cuits for stable operation under conditionsof extremes in temperature, humidity andatmospheric changes.The unit is also designed to provide positive,trouble-free operation in locations subjectto both strong external vibrations andvoltage fluctuation.One of the many special design features in-corporated is a stainless steel screen to ex-clude bugs & lint from entering the sensing& balance chambers. Therefore making thismodel much more trustworthy.Many units can be powered from in a singleloop because the high-impedance circuitryof Model PID-C2 keeps power consumptionvery low.

The unit features all solid-state circuitry anda special locking screw which locks thedetector head to the base securely.An added benefit of this design is that ofcleaning convenience. Periodic cleaning canbe performed without disassembly.

MODEL PID-C2

Operation

The PID-C2 lonization Smoke Detector has twochambers, an outer sampling chamber and aninner balance chamber. Smoke or invisiblecombustion gasses can freely penetrate theouter chamber, but the inner chamber is vir-tually closed to prevent easy entry. With bothchambers ionized by a single radioactivesource, a very small current flows in the circuit.The presence of visible smoke or invisible gas-ses have a great influence upon the currentflow in the outer chamber ahd will cause achange in the voltage radio between chambers.This difference is then amplified inside thedetector and transmitted to the fire alarm con-trol unit to which it is connected.

Applications

The unique combination of features enablesthe PID-C2 to be used in any location wheretemperature, humidity and/or noise wouldcombine to make many detectors inap-propriate. The units can be connected to a firealarm control panel using a 2-wire loop circuitwith end-of-line resistor or using a 4-wire loopcircuit. ln addition, the interchangeability af-forded by the Common Base allows the use ofother compatible types of detectors on thesame line.

remote lamp is NOT required as shown for unit "A". lf a remote lamp lS required, terminal S is usedto power one side of the lamp. lf each detector is to have its own remote lamp, then refer to unit "B".lf , however, a group of detectors are to light a single remote lamp, then refer to units "C, D, and E". Inthis case should any one or more detectors go into alarm, the common remote lamp will light. In allcases, an end-of-line resistor will go across terminals L and C of the last detector base on two wireEOLR type systems.
