Vote on the 2012 – 2013 School Calendar
You are invited to participate in Humble ISD’s survey regarding the
2012-2013 school calendar. The survey and two draft calendars have been posted to www.humbleisd.net
The draft calendars were developed based upon the following criteria:
• State law stipulates school may not begin before Monday, Aug. 27.
• The district provides 177 days of instruction for students. Teachers work a 187-day contract.
• The community has expressed in previous surveys a long-standing preference for ending the first semester at Winter Break.
• Low attendance days directly affect state funding received by Humble ISD. The Thanksgiving holidays are a full week because student attendance drops significantly when school is open only Monday and Tuesday.
Survey results will be tallied and comments considered. The Board of Trustees will approve a calendar for the 2012-2013 school year in the spring semester.
