Test generator In order to test your students on various subjects PetroTrainer is equipped with a test generator,
which easily allows you to make tests. There are a various number of answering methods:
Text or character answers
Answer a number within a given range
Multiple choice – one correct answer
Multiple choice – multiple correct answers
During the test, the student have the possibility to navigate between questions before submitting the
answers. There is also the possibility to set a time for the test, and the student can see how much
time she/he have left.
The test generator have two different setups for testing the student:
Fixed tests – All the questions are predefined
Computer generated test – the computer randomly selects questions within the desired
subject
In addition, there are two different modes. In Test Mode, the results will be reported to a test
database or submitted for evaluation. In Exercise Mode, the student will be provided with a response
for each question.
The ITC Boreskolen has built an exercise database with approximately 500 exercises that are updated
accordingly to IWCF and IDAC certifications. Thus, the students will be able to prepare themselves
prior to a test.

Exercise programs The PetroTrainer software also provide its users with different exercise programs as kick circulation
simulator, line-up simulator and various versions of kill-sheets.
Kick circulation simulator The exercise version can be run to simulate
pump start-up procedures, choke handling
& response and general kick circulation
procedures.
The field tool version of the kick circulation
simulator which is optional to the IWC
trainer, a decision support utility tool
package, can run kill-sheet input from the
field tool kill-sheet, both wait & weight and
driller's method. This will be practical both
in advanced training and for on the rig use.
Line-up simulator The layouts for several 3rd and 4th generation
semi-submersibles on the Norwegian Continental
Self are included. Drilling personnel are keen to
perform exercises on the manifolds on their own
rigs, since the setup can vary from rig to rig.
There have been well control incidents in the
North Sea where line-up problems have led to
serious problems in critical situations. The
system also contains the standpipe manifold.
Kill-sheet exercises There are several cases of kick situations and
complete kill-sheet calculations. The setup is
fast and user friendly. The student can get help
with the calculations through a pop-up system.
The system can handle any well shape, and will
provide the user with graphs and printouts.
The kill-sheet exercises can also be set up for
filed related cases.
