Dear Parishioners, 1. The Truth When Jesus was standing before Pilate (Jn 18:37-
38), Pilate asked Jesus, with world-weary sophistication, “What is truth”? But Pilate left without waiting for an answer. Elsewhere in the Gospel, Jesus actually gave this question its rightful answer (Jn 14:6): “I am the Truth,” he told his apostles. In the Gospel Reading for this Sunday, Jesus explains how we ourselves come to the Truth. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, and Christ is the Truth. So the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. And he guides Christ’s people to all truth. With that perspective, she will understand something of the great arc of creation which begins from the Lord and returns to the Lord. When a person opens to Christ, who is the Truth, then the Spirit of Christ comes to dwell in her. And the indwelling Spirit brings with him the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, and knowledge (and others). A person who loves Christ and has the Spirit of Christ within her knows the Lord. And in the light of that knowledge, she can also see a lot of things that she would have been blind to before she came to love the Lord. The knowledge of the Lord puts a lot of things into perspective. And so she will be able to discern the great good things in life from the small ones. And this is wisdom. Finally, with these gifts of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, she will also have insight into the means for finding the great good things of the Lord. This insight is the gift of counsel. So because she has opened to the Spirit of Christ and knows the Lord, she has these gifts of the Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, and knowledge. But, you might think, how does any of this help me know the truth about what to do with this day’s troubles? How should I deal with my son? What shall I do when I am sorrowful over the state of the church? What is the right answer to these questions? Where does the truth about these things lie? Well, if you don’t know where the truth lies and the Spirit of Truth is within you, then you can just ask him. And then the Spirit of the Lord, who is truth, will lead you to all truth, as the Lord says. Pilate should have stayed for the answer to his question. 2. Working With Children Checks As mentioned previously every 'volunteer' must obtain a Working With Children Check ('WWCC'). We need all Youth Group members over 18 years of age, all Children Liturgy leaders and especially Extra-ordinary ministers of the Eucharist to apply for a WWCC

ALL HALLOWS PARISH RE-ENERGISED
This week saw the start of our Faith Enrichment Series led by Ann Kerley.
The series is a response from parishioners after
discussions took place about Plenary 2020. Many felt the need to learn more and to deepen their Faith.
The positive feedback from participants have others already signing up for the next one.
You have 3 choices during the week as all sessions
are the same, so if one time doesn’t suit you have two other choices. The small group sessions are held in
the Gathering Space of the Church with a nice cuppa and a relaxed, interactive and informal atmosphere.
Next Sessions will be on;-
Monday 17th June 11:30am Thursday 20th June 11am Saturday 22nd June 3pm
How much time can you invest in salvation?
Generation Awakening, our Parish Youth Group, led by Beatrice Lorquet attended the Grail Centre in
North Sydney last weekend. The session was on The Devil Wears Prada and insights of Rene Girard into
human desire, rivalry and resentment. All challenging concepts which our youth grappled with and were much the wiser for having attended.
Participants at the session remarked on how wonderful it was to see a Parish Youth Group in
attendance and hoped that their youth groups, who only met monthly, could engage in something similar.
It is inspiring to now see new Altar Servers in our parish coming from our public schools who attend weekly scripture classes taught by our parishioners.
Well done one and all!

We will walk with Mary step-by-step from Nazareth to the Cross and consider how she faced moments of joy and thanksgiving, moments of uncertainty and discernment as well as moments of trial and darkness. And yet at every critical point she responded with greater trust and surrender in ways that offer many practical insights for our own paths of Christian discipleship today. In this presentation, Dr. Edward Sri will draw on themes from his faith study “Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother”. Talk 2: A Biblical Walk Through the Mass Do you ever wish you could get more out of Mass? Discover how all the prayers, symbols, and rituals in the liturgy can come alive for us today once we understand their Biblical roots. From the sign of the cross and the Gloria to the Eucharistic prayers and Holy Communion, join us for a Biblical tour of the Mass and learn the profound meaning of what we are really saying and doing each week as we participate in these sacred mysteries.

POPE’S COLUMN
Holy Father Speaks of Holy Spirit and Harmony The Apostles Lose Fear and Uncertainty The apostles had seen the risen Lord. Still, they were filled with fear and uncertainty — until Pentecost. Then, as Pope Francis explained, the Holy Spirit came and changed everything. The Holy Father’s insights came in his homily on June 9, 2019 – the Feast of Pentecost – during Mass for the huge crowd of the faithful in St. Peter’s Square. “Pentecost arrived, for the disciples, after fifty days of uncertainty,” the Pope said. “True, Jesus had risen. Overjoyed, they had seen him, listened to his words and even shared a meal with him. “Yet they had not overcome their doubts and fears: they met behind closed doors (cf. Jn 20:19.26), uncertain about the future and not ready to proclaim the risen Lord. Then the Holy Spirit comes and their worries disappear. Now the apostles show themselves fearless, even before those sent to arrest them. Previously, they had been worried about saving their lives; now they are unafraid of dying.” The Pope admitted that the Holy Spirit didn’t make things easier for the disciples. They still faced all manner of persecution and danger. But he brought them something vital: harmony. ” The Spirit brought into the lives of the disciples a harmony that had been lacking, his own harmony, for he is harmony,” Francis explained. “Harmony within human beings. Deep down, in their hearts, the disciples needed to be changed. Their story teaches us that even seeing the Risen Lord is not enough unless we welcome him into our hearts.” The Holy Father warned that in today’s “frenzied pace of life” it is easy to lose harmony. People are pulled in many directions, become exhausted, look for “the quick fix” and even resort to drugs. In such circumstances, people need the Holy Spirit. “Without the Spirit, our Christian life unravels, lacking the love that brings everything together,” Francis said. “Without the Spirit, Jesus remains a personage from the past; with the Spirit, he is a person alive in our own time. Without the Spirit, Scripture is a dead letter; with the Spirit, it is a word of life. A Christianity without the Spirit is joyless moralism; with the Spirit, it is life. “The Holy Spirit does not bring only harmony within us but also among us.”
