Pamban bridge, commissioned in February 1914, turned 101 in 2015. Its 100th year anniversary was marked by a one month long celebration. The bridge is 2,065m(6,776 ft) long. There is a newly built road bridge running parallel to the original rail bridge. Both together constitute the Pamban bridge now.
