St. Joseph’s Workshop Do you want more peace in your heart and more joy in your life?
Peace and joy flow into our lives when we allow God to transform our hearts. Three Steps to Grow Closer to God this month
Step One – Go to Confession – Confession not only allows Jesus to forgive our sins, but He sends a shower of graces upon our souls to heal them from the wounding affects of sin on our hearts and makes them stronger to resist sin in the future. Step Two – Celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday on April 23, 2017 – Jesus is so merciful that He has given us Divine Mercy Sunday (the Second Sunday of Easter) as the day when Heaven pours out God's Mercy by giving us complete forgiveness of our sins and punishment due to them if on that day we celebrate the Feast, go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, sincerely repent of all of our sins, place our complete trust in Jesus, venerate the Image of Divine Mercy and be merciful to others. Step Three – Commit to doing the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary devotions, which means Mass attendance at Nine First Fridays and Five First Saturdays and monthly Confession, all with the intention of fulfilling the devotions. Come learn more ways to grow closer to God so He can fill your heart the happiness only God can give at the next St. Joseph's Workshop on Friday, April 21st at 7 pm in the Parish Center. St. Joseph's Workshop is a monthly series of programs that are held on Friday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Parish Center of St. Patrick's Church. The evening will begin with light snacks and fellowship, followed by an inspirational talk about how to live your faith and will conclude with Eucharistic Adoration. Free babysitting is offered during the talk. Confession will also be available.
Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord April 9, 2017
A Note from the Pas tor ’s Desk
Dear Parishioners,
Those who were able to attend the Parish Mission were challenged and inspired to make the life of Jesus the source of our life once again. Fr. Collins has a down to earth way to help others rediscover God’s presence in our lives. He reminded us that there are many ways to stay connected to the love of Jesus and the Word and Sacraments are some of the best.
I believe the Mission has helped many of us move into Holy Week. With today’s commemoration of Palm or Passion Sunday, we begin again to follow more closely the suffering of Jesus during the last week of His life on Earth. The Palms remind us of how the people welcomed Jesus as a prophet at the beginning of the week and the Eucharist reminds us how at the end of the week Jesus gave His body and blood for our sake on the cross.
The Church’s hope is that we will always remember the sacrifice of Jesus which reveals the depth of God’s love for us. Whether it is a Parish Mission or the events of Holy Week or our everyday life which can connect us to Jesus in unexpected ways if we seek to do God’s will, Jesus will reach out to us if we ask for His grace and His help.
Please see the schedules for Holy Week in this bulletin and in the back of the church. This Holy Week promises to be another week of prayerful gatherings here in church and a powerful time to experience God’s presence.
In addition to Masses and services like Good Friday’s veneration of the cross, there will be many hours for the sacrament of Penance. There are many reasons people have for not going to confession, but shortage of hours should not be one of them this week. Whatever we priests can do to help people feel close to Christ and His Church, we will do.
May the Lord lead us and guide us to walk in His footsteps and remain close to His heart and His saving love always. Blessed Holy Week! Sincerely in Christ,
