1. Proposed P2 Workflow overview
This section described the main part of the Panasonic P2 workflow intends to implement
to cover the needs of our client for Newsroom operation. It does not have the objectives
to describe entirely the content of the BOQ but to highlight and to explain the main parts.
In this context, the paragraph includes:
HD Camcorder with AVC-ULTRA Recording
P2 Cast Application
P2 Streaming Receiver Server
The P2 workflow systems is comprised of PX5000 cameras with AJ-WM30 wireless
modules and one P2 Steaming Receiver server capable of receiving 1000 camera
and deliver 4 SDI output. As well we proposed P2 Cast Trial License [300GB]
(AJ-CBD100180) a free of charge trial license and a 9 month P2 Cast Basic Plan
License of 100GB (AJ-CBD001) monthly per camera to complete one year cycle of
license subscription.

Each PX5000 camera will have its own wireless dongle to be connected to a 4G LTE
Mobile broadband Wifi router or as an alternative the camera can be connected to a
wired network. The 4LTE route will make the internet connection available on the field to
connect the camera to the P2 Cast cloud server. The PX5000 camera will
simultaneously create a low resolution proxy copy of the High res video file, which will
be transmitted to the P2 cast cloud system. Each camera will have a dedicated 100GB
storage which will store the Proxy and the high res video file for two weeks. The P2
Streaming Receiver server will be able to take the streaming video from a selected
camera to one of its 4 SDI outputs.
2. P2 Cast Workflow Description
P2 Cast is the Panasonic cloud-based news production system that takes full advantage
of the network features of the P2HD camcorders with AVC-ULTRA recording – the
AJ-PX5000G, AJ-PX800, AJ-PX380 and AJ-PX270. P2 Cast integrates these
camcorders' network capabilities so content captured in the field can automatically be
uploaded to the cloud and immediately available for reviewing and editing.
P2 Cast dramatically accelerates the delivery of news to air, while at the same time
expanding the editing function to any device connected to the internet. A major P2 Cast
advantage is its ability via the cloud to move low bit rate, yet high-quality proxy video off
a camcorder, create a video sequence of the desired clips, and then allow newsroom
systems to automatically pull back high-resolution AVC-ULTRA video from the camera.
2.1. P2 Camera connectivity
P2 Cast link a P2 Camera Recorders in the field with a broadcasting station via the
cloud through mobile networks (4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, or dedicated connection), making it
possible to quickly produce news out of events as it occurs. As a cloud application
can streamline and accelerate production workflows in news reporting.
NOTE: Communication device & Communication cost is not provided by
Panasonic (4G/LTE dongle, Wi-Fi adapter, mobile router) (4G/LTE etc.)

2.2. File Transfer Solution
The cameraman captures the live moment with dual codec. The High resolution
video file will be stored on the P2 card while a second proxy video file will be
automatically uploaded to the cloud server. The proxy video will appear on the P2
cast application which any editor or operator can access it from the broadcast Station
or anywhere else and start the highlight editing.

Once the highlight editing is finished (In point / Out point) the proxy files that have been
uploaded on the cloud server, thus creating an EDL (Edit Decision List) and transfer it to
the camera. Based on the EDL, the camera selects the desired high-quality footage and
transfers it back to the server.
Cameras and cameramen are pre-assigned IDs so metadata can be sent from the
newsroom to the camcorders in the field. Metadata is automatically recorded with
footage shot in the field, and the data can then be used in the editing process to
dramatically increase the search-ability of the raw footage and shorten the time required
for archiving and targeting secondary uses.

3. AVC-ULTRA
AVC-ULTRA is an H.264-based video compression codec featuring high image quality
and excellent efficiency. By selecting the image quality and bit rate, it is possible to
respond to various needs of broadcasting and image production, from 4K production to
streaming distribution.
3.1. AVC-Intra:
Intra-frame compression attains high, production-level image quality. For HD use,
AVC-Intra200, with image quality approaching uncompressed levels and high, 24 bit
audio, has been added to the popular AVC-Intra100/50 codecs. The new codec
provides high-quality images for mastering and archiving use. The newly developed
VariCam 35 is equipped with the AVC-Intra4K/2K codec for 4K/2K image use.
3.2. AVC-LongG:
Inter-frame compression achieves high-quality HD recording at a low bit rate. The
AVC-LongG25 codec operates with high, 10 bit/4:2:2 image quality and a bit rate of
approximately 25 Mbps (when using 1080/59.94i).
3.3. AVC-Proxy:
Quick Time logoA dual codec recording function simultaneously records, in addition
to the main data, proxy images (Quick Time/H.264)*1 with a low bit rate, high
resolution, and high-quality sound. This enables previewing on a wireless device,*2
and data transfer and streaming distribution over the internet. It also includes
metadata for efficient offline editing.

3.4. Evolving P2 Card Series
P2 originally led the broadcast industry with its use of solid-state memory cards for
recording media. Highly resistant to temperature fluctuations, dust, impact and
vibration, the P2 card took advantage of its solid-state memory capabilities to
provide instant start-up and media access. P2 brought high reliability and mobility to
data gathering and acquisition under virtually all conditions. Today, the P2 card
continues to evolve.
3.4.1. microP2 card:
This new broadcast-use memory card was reduced to the size of the SD card,
and its cost was significantly lowered. It also inherits the highly reliable design of
the P2 card.

3.4.2. ExpressP2 card:
Based on the PC card Type III form factor, the expressP2 card offers the same
level of durability as the P2 card and a larger capacity of 256 GB. It is well suited
to recording master grade 4K images and high-frame-rate VFR images (HD:
maximum 240 fps) for the new Varicam Series.
3.4.3. Higher reliability:
The microP2 and expressP2 cards offer the same level of reliability as the RAID
system, i.e., the capability to restore data with sector, page, and block errors that
cannot be corrected by ordinary flash memory error correction. It also features
the new CPS (Content Protection System) security function. Data recorded on
the card can be locked with a password to protect against unauthorized access
and prevent data leaks.
3.5. Network Connectivity
P2 content uses the MXF (OP-ATOM, OP1b) format, which has spearheaded
the use of file formats in broadcast systems. Proxy images in Quick Time
(H.264) format and network functions support new, instantaneous broadcast
workflows based on mobile networks.

3.5.1. Wired/wireless LAN:
Models equipped with a LAN (Ethernet) terminal can be connected to
a network with a wired LAN connection. Models that support wireless
connection*5 are capable of wireless LAN connection (IEEE
802.11g/n standard). Proxy previews, metadata input, remote
operation, FTP transfers, playlist editing and other functions can be
used from computers (PC/Mac), tablet devices and smartphones*6
connected to the network.
3.5.2. 4G/LTE network connectivity:
Functions equivalent to those made possible by wired LAN connection
are achieved by the camera recorder alone. FTP transfers can be
directly made from the camera recorder to the network server. As soon
as data is gathered, it can be edited at the studio desk and sent as a
news flash.
3.5.3. Video streaming:
Proxy images can be streamed via wired/wireless LAN or 4G/LTE
networks. Live streaming distribution is also possible.
