The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra pre-sented an evening of classical andpopular music for their Annual Gala atThe Metropolitan Club. The festivitiesbegan at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails inthe Grand Foyer. A private concert at7:30p.m. followed and featured specialguest soloist, singer Mary CleereHaran, and preeminent dance bandleader Peter Duchin, with members ofOrpheus Chamber Orchestra. The pro-gram, titled New York, New York:From Tin Pan Alley to CarnegieHall included works by Copland,Gershwin, Ellington, Scott, Bernsteinand Sondheim.

The exclusive, black tie event includeda seated dinner at 8:30p.m. The galaHonoree was John C. Whitehead.Gala Co-Chairs were Heidi Neuhoffand Lizabeth and Frank Newman;Honorary Gala Chairs were EdmundC. Duffy, Trustee of the Peter J. SharpFoundation, and Tan Dun, award-win-ning composer and conductor.
