Strategy
• “Most smart people in our field work for
us”
• “To profit from R&D, we must discover,
develop and ship it ourselves”
• “If we create the most and the best ideas
in the industry, we will win”
Open Network Based
Strategy
• “Not all of the smart people in our field work for us”
• “External R&D will create significant value, internal
R&D is needed to claim its value”
• “We celebrate success and also credit those who dares
but failes”
• “If we make the best use of internal and external
ideas, we will win”
CLOSED VS
OPEN NETWORK BASED INNOVATION
Closed
Environment
• Ad Hoc Interaction with our environment
• Restrained, closed and intangible system
• Internal forums are kept internal
• We operate in our own closed facilities
Open Network Based
Environment
• Permanent interaction by our org with our env.
• Large system, adjust quickly
• Extended environment to (political, social, economic
etc)
• Forums of the org get “radical” participation
• Cross Organisational Innovation
• Partially own open environment and operation at
other’s sites
• Actively building an Open Innovation Ecosystem
CLOSED VS OPEN NETWORK BASED INNOVATION
