Absences due to pre-approved college visits will not count
against seniors for exam exemptions. Seniors must have
approval from their professional school counselor prior to the
college visit and must submit documentation of visit upon
returning.
All College Acceptance Letters, Scholarship Offers and FAFSA
Confirmations need to be turned in to Mrs. Tipton ASAP!
When you are absent from school, please remember to turn
your absentee note in to Mr. Floyd IMMEDIATELY! Mr. Floyd’s
office is located in Pupil Services.
Detention is assigned for students who are tardy to school or class
3 or more times. The detention is always posted outside of the Pupil
Services office. Detention notices are also issued.
If you fail to attend detention you will be automatically assigned a
day of ISS!!!
If you fail to attend ISS or comply with ISS rules you will receive an
OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION!!
Any student that would like to be a part of the 1st Overton High
School Freshman orientation serving as camp counselors,
please see Mr. Trice in the Guidance Office.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! – To the Cast, Crew and Orchestra on
their High School Musical Theatre Awards nominations in the
following categories: Outstanding Front of House, Outstanding
Large Ensemble, Outstanding Student Orchestra, Music
Direction and Outstanding Featured Actor – Jerquintez Gipson.
The awards ceremony will be May 26th at 7pm at the Orpheum
Theater.
Congratulations to OHS Senior Art Student Cassie Rutherford
on being selected as the winner of the United States
Congressional Art competition. Her artwork will go on display in
the United States
Capitol Building!!!
Applicants for Advance Placement United States History should
come to see Mr. Jones in room 235 to pick up the summer
reading book and assignment. This will be the first grade next
year, don’t delay!
Students please be reminded that you are NOT to park behind
the school. If you are caught parking in this area you will
receive a school level consequence.
Congratulations to the Overton Symphony Orchestra. They
recently went to Washington, DC. And competed in the
Festivals of Music Orchestra Contest. The Symphony
Orchestra won Superior Ratings and brought home the 1st
Place Trophy. Congratulations!!!!!!
All cadets are required to turn-in their uniform if they have not
done so already. Report cards may be held and financial
payments for lost items not turned in may also occur.
Volleyball try-outs will be held May 11th – 13th. The $5 try-out
fee must be paid prior to try-outs. For more information, please
see Coach Cooley in room 224.
Overton Ovation auditions have started! Ovation is seeking
singers, instrumentalist and percussionists. Stop by room 301
(Mr. Valdez) to schedule a time.
P.O.W. Club Members – please stop by room 111 (Mrs.
Mitchell) in order to sign up to work in the concession stand
THIS WEEK!!! Workers are needed for Thursday and Friday, so
see Mrs. Mitchell as soon as possible.

The Boys Soccer team defeated Central 3 to 1 last night in the
District Tournament. Join them as they play White Station on
Wednesday night at 7:00pm at Crump Stadium for the District
Championship.
You are cordially invited to join the Overton High School Band
for their Spring Concert. This concert will be held on Thursday,
May 12th at 7:00pm in the Overton Auditorium. Members of the
graduating senior class will be featured!
The week of May 16th through May 20th will be the only time
you can request your final transcript online. Any request after
May 20th will be processed by the Board of Education and will
not include your ACT or other test scores. Anything submitted
between now and May 16th will be processed, but only with first
semester grades. Your final transcript will consist of all of your
credits and graduation date.
